18 months post tx

So, here I am 18 months post tx and SVR.  I am still not leaping tall buildings with a single bound, but I am feeling good physically --  most of the time; lifting weights, taking long walks and dieting to lose the fat I put on not exercising for a long time.

I didn't know what to expect with life post tx.  I moved, sold my boat, retired and stopped taking horrible drugs all at the same time.  So feeling confused the other day, I jumped in my car, put the top down and started listening to the doors followed by Ode to Joy; pretty eclectic tastes, but great music.

Here in my old age, I found that hitting the gas and turning up the music is still a great feeling.  I don't know what life will bring from here, but then I never did know.  Perhaps the mystery of it all is what keeps us all going.

That is so cool.I could only imagine.I have always loved the water .My husband is into vintage Mcintosh and Altec Gear.So we have been listening to ALL kinds of music. If you love music the way you say you should get some Altec Lansing and see what music is suppose to sound like. The vintage Altec is disappearing at an alarming rate.Being bought and shipped overseas.Anything of quality, USA made and is vintage is being sold for 5 to 6 x's what it brings here.Try an MX110 preamplifier-tuner and a MC 240, tubed amp.For the speakers try Altec model 19.Listen to a favorite artist perform live in your home.Wow, nothing compares unless your there.         Tammy

I am 13 mon. post my last trial treatment, though, as you know, not SVR.  However, I am doing really good right now.  I've been working out 5,6 or sometimes even 7 days a week.  Only every other day, with the weights, or like Mon., Wed., Fri.  I do spinning class which is a blast and pilates.  I'll be participating in Making Strides for Breast Cancer charity walk in Oct. and I've been extremely busy doing my fundraising for that and helping out at the Amer. Canc. Society for the behind the scenes planning part of it.  My liver seems to be handling the wait for something to cure me, pretty d*rn well, which I'm very pleased about.  I must be doing something right!  The doctors are all for my working out and say that it's actually good for my liver and better for me to be thinner than to be overweight (which I wasn't anyway, but they were just reassuring me that what I was doing with the working out was okay).  I think that you're doing great for how many times you had to treat to get to SVR!  Enjoy your tunes and convertible rides, you deserve it!  I wish I could meet you guys for the lunch tomorrow..., I wanted to, but I am just flat broke and unfortunately it takes money for gas to get there and then, to be able to eat anything!  Maybe the next one, if I know enough in advance, I can budget it in somehow.  Take care.  Susan400

Congrats on your milestone Eric!! As you know, I am 1 week behind you...Not to mention, I am also celebrating my first full month with new hips!!
(although, no riding in the convertible for me---I know I could get in my 911 targa, but surely doubt I could get out of it...but 1 month post surgery I am able to push the clutch and shift the gears of my F250 truck...so I am happy with that for now!)

Thanks for the encouragement and congrats to  your daughter!

I sailed between Maine and Granada, spending the winters in the Caribbean and the summers between Connecticut and Maine.  It was a pretty cheap way to lead an adventurous life fora few years.  We sold our house, put the furniture in storage and moved onto the boat.

It was a great experience.  I made lots of friends and saw some very remote places with beautiful beaches and crystal clear water.

A convertible sure is not the same thing.  Perhaps someday I will repeat the experience.  For the time being, we are dealing with infirm parents.

It's awesome to hear your doing well.I was at work the other day and just coming home from Florida from the nationals for my daughter, I started thinking about you.Where all have you sailed ? I've never had the luxury myself but can imagine it's not the same as the highway with your top down.No pun intended.By the way daughter brought home the world title belt. It's beautiful. Was really happy to hear your doing great.Keep up the walking. Keep an eye on your speed. It's a proven fact, you drive to the music.Put Kenny G. in and Nickelback.  T.

Not having the breath to sing in the car was something I missed badly on TX.  Just got back from road trip, singing Sting at the top of my lungs.  I still got it!

Ok, so now I'm not feeling so silly for the way I drove home last night....altho the windows were rolled up tight and the A/C was blasting....I was singing my heart out with no attempt to hide my head bopping from the other drivers.

Just some good ol' cruising music.

Have faith in science, kept everything, find that roaring down the road to Beethoven means a $135 speeding ticket for me.  Darn Beethoven!

Sorry for the confusion.  I didn't take another PCR.  I was just talking about my status.

Great to hear your summary of post tx feelings .
I´m too are talking long walks and doing some weight lifting stuff, in order to loose some bellyfat and come into a better shape.

Taking a pcr 18 months post isn´t that a little bit of paranoia?

My old convertible bit the dust a year ago...and I still miss it....best car ever! Still, cruising and listening to tunes has been a great reprieve during tx.

Like you, I haven't a clue what the future will bring, but it's ok. I was ready to quit my job and move abroad last January til my Stage 4 dx put a halt to that. I'm not sure I'm going to move at this point, but I am going for an extended stay at least.

You had alot of changes in a brief period of time. I don't know what changes post tx will bring for me, but undoubtably there will be some...how can there not be after what we've been through!

I hope you continue to grow stronger with each passing day so you can continue to experience life to the fullest................Pam

Naaa..you dont want to leap tall buildings anyway....your too busy enjoying SVR and the "good peaceful days". After all these years your finally at peace with this and it must feel so good! So you enjoy it and keep blasting those tunes on the radio!

Great post to read...There is NOTHING like peace of mind.

I know the feeling.... I sold my car, but I bought a bicycle ;-)  I put on my heels, blast music in my ears and I fly through the wind...

I'm glad you are feeling so good and are out on an adventure. And you will soon be leaping tall buildings.

Btw, be careful where you park that baby... It might disappear, ending up being parked in Copenhagen right in front of my door...

Hugs my friend,

Marcia
