Starting TX tomorrow, anyone else?

I have been reading this forum off and on for over 6 months and have got a lot out of it. I was suppose to start TX in December but had many delays. Now the day almost here and of all ironies it lands on my birthday. There are a lot of wonderful people on this forum and I was wondering if anyone is starting on their TX around the same time? I thought it would be beneficial to take this unfortunate journey with others for support.

Yea, there is something about me that makes people want to kick me there, or so it seems.  :)

Hope your tx is going smoothly. I am just about finished w/48, so i know you can do it!

Be healthy and happy,

Sounds like we like some of the same things. Dogs don't have to be smart to be lovable, that's for sure. In fact, mine can be a little manipulative at times, but she is a sweetheart.

Funny you mentioned the celll phone. When I was walking for exercise after my transplant, I would get a little headstrong about forging ahead (suburban streets, not wilderness trails). More than once I had to call my wife to pick me up a few miles from home because I was spent. The same thing happened a few weeks ago when I walked just a few blocks (I really wasn't felling well). I had more energy a few months after transplant than I have had during TX.

If you like trail running, you would be at home in Utah. Lots of trails in the Wasatch Mountains minutes from Salt Lake City.

.... end of advertisement for Utah Tourism Council ....  ! :)

I hope you are able to maintain the active lifestyle during TX.

Stay healthy,
Brent

72 weeks thats an amazing commitment! I love your photo's of the grandchildren and your dog. I was just wondering where the worlds smartest dog was? I know where the worlds dumbest and most lovable dog is, right here with me. I also have one of the worlds best frisbee dogs. My two dogs pull me along the trail like a dog sled when I run. Couldn't do it without them. I'm trying to take it easy like walk up the steep parts. I went out today and ran flat along a nice creek trail w/my husband and dogs. Had a great time perfect weather. I stopped and took some stretching breaks and let the dogs jump into the creek to cool off. I went out and got a long sleeve running shirt that keeps you cool. My NP cautioned about sun sensitivity and how a pt. got 3rd degree burns from doing errands  in the sun for 2 hours. I live in Cailf. so I love to be outside and enjoy the sun.
I know I won't be able to run as much later but I better hold onto while I can.
I take my second shot tonight. We will see what that brings. My left hand had pins and needles in it most of the day. I don't know if from now on all ailments should be blamed on the TX?
Thanks for responding. I hope you are able to get out on that walk. Bring a cell phone.
Love and strength
Connie.

Well, at least 48 is a lot less than 72. So, I will finish my last 24 weeks just as you begin those last weeks. We can have a "Done and Half-Done" celebration.

Been a lot of talk about snakes lately. You didn't run into the nasty pit viper type like the Rattlesnake (Timber, diamondback or other)?  We get a few of those here in the deserts ond on some warmer mountain trails.

Keep up the activity. I think it is harder to restart after you give in to fatigue. Just don't get your expectations too high and keep yourself comfortable. With low HGB/HCT is probably not the time to shoot for your personal best. I would consider it a great personal best if I could get out on the trail for a couple of miles once a week. Now the weather is getting better, I may make an effort.

Dont push to exhaustion because I think you won't recover like  you are used to.

Best luck, Stay Healthy,
Brent

Unfortunately I am on the 48 week route. So far, only 6 days, has not been to bad. I went for a run yesterday although I am very stiff from sleeping so much and the RA. I was glad I got my butt out there. It felt good but I can't seem to run uphill right now. I was sweating profusely because I am drinking so much H20. I ran into 2 snakes, one in the entrance to the woman's bathroom at the top of the hill. EVERY woman's nightmare. I think I will run flat next time away from the snakes and ticks. My NP said to keep doing the things I was doing as much as I can, so I will try. My new picture on profile is of me at the Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco May 18th the Sunday before my first shot. I tried to enjoy it as much as I could thinking it might be my last race.

Thank you so much for your reply. It's Sunday and my stomach is a little funky and I don't feel like doing a lot but overall fine.
Geez Eric you TX 8 x's! How is that humanly possible. Have you been off and on TX for the last 8-10 years. WOW talk about a dragon slayer. Congratulations on UND! Finally! I will seriously keep positive thoughts going your way for SVR.
If I have any tough times I will keep in mind that you made it through TX 8 x's and I should  buck up. My hat goes off to you. What were your stats?

I am 10 weeks post treatment.  I completed 48 weeks of the Telaprevir trial.  This was my 8th time treating and the first time I remained undetectable after completion.

You sound like you are in great shape to start treatment.  I think going into it in such good health will help considerably.

Good luck,
Eric

Thank you for your posts. I had a wonderful B day with my girlfriends I've known since High school for over 35 years. We had a room at an old Lodge in the Redwoods. Six of us had a slumber party and they made sure I drank lots of H20. There was a great old hippy band and we danced all night. We practically had the dance floor to ourselves and we took over the joint. The band brought me on stage and sang happy birthday to me. The whole night people were coming up and saying happy B day. The next morning in the cafe the staff knew who were were and took great care of us. I love the redwoods and a girls night out. I expected to feel worse and was so happy when I felt good. Yes I know there is a fire raging in thar hills. Get this now I am worried that maybe the nurse gave me her placebo shot or as I have read on here it seems if you don't have many side effects its not working. I know this is crazy talk and many sides are on their way but just sharing the silly things that go through my head.

-Jessica, that cracks me up justjessica, my mom always say's its just me on the message when she calls. It always sounds to me like oh its just me and I'm not that important. Girl your special and I really like your advice about letting your husband read the journal. I'll just have to be careful about what I write about him in it! (kind if a joke) He is already stressed about having to pitch in more and help with the kids.I am so sorry the first TX didn't work. My mother has SLE and I thought I was getting it when they found the RA. Are you able to TX again?
-Ca- I am type 1a and I will try to circle my wagons and hope they don't crash to often. Where are you from?
-Hey Mars is this your 2nd time attempting TX and you have to do DAILY shots OMG!
-Hector your very sweet, thank you. I feel fine so far just a little head/tummy ache but that could be from trying to get my kids to do their chores and eating red hots last night.
-Orleans and kickboxing, it's really a relief to finally get started and so far not as bad as I had imagined in my head. Although I am fully aware it can hit at any time.
Thank you all for responding with such kind words. It will be nice to have others on this trip, plenty of room. I am going up to the Santa Cruz Mts to stay in an old Lodge in the
Redwoods with a group of gals I've known since High school. There is an old school band playing Quick Silver that hopefully I'll be up for dancing with the gals. I love to dance it always makes me feel better. I'll try not to over do but I'm not good at that.

Hi CM welcome aboard!
It can be a real roller coaster journey some times. And it can happen that two wagons meet at the same riba track and that can be a crash thats gonna be heard all over the forum.

But that is seldom, mostly we help and comfort each other.

What geno are you how long are you gonna treat?

I took shot 20 some ours ago 28 to go,I can be your companion for 28weeks, although I live across the ocean.

Lets roll!  God bless

I am a newbie on here, but went through tx over three years ago, ended it three years ago this month.  If I woudl have known about this site when I was going through my tx I would have been so much happier.  I had a really hard time with tx, but I have SLE and HCV genotype 1a Variant, so the cards were seriously stacked against me from the beginning.  I kept a journal and it helped me so much, I allowed my husband to read it just so he could see how I felt and get a better understanding of what i was going through.  Treatment is tough, but is so worth it.  Even though my expreience was unpleasant to say the very least, if I could do it again to try and rid my body of this HCV I would do it again in a minute.
Drink lots of water, be very honest with yourself and your doctor, don't over do it.  Take all the help you can get, and don't be afraid, ashamed, embarrased, to ask for more if you need it.  The more you allow your body to rest the better you will feel.  Make sure your caregiver (if you have one) takes a few hours to their self a week to get away and breathe, going through it is tough having a loved one have to watch is hard too, go to support groups, they help.
Good Luck with your tx,
