Geno 1a...54 years old
According to my last biopsy (5/25/06)
Mildly to moderately active chronic hepatitis (grade 2-3/4) with early Periportal fibrosis (stage 1-2/4)

Actually, I am going for a second opinion in the near future, and also going for a repeat lab tomorrow to get my lipid panel/RNA retaken (suggested by my general practicioner today).

If you were me, and replased..what would you do?
All advice is welcomed.
Thanks, Eileen

Thanks all.  I'm waiting to hear from the new doctor here in Portland.  My GP has referred me to him and I'm just waiting for him to call me with an appointment.  I will definately ask about the future trials and see what my options might be.

I do know one thing..I'm going to wait at least until after this summer.  I already lost 2 half summers when I tx'd the last time and I'm not about to miss another summer with staying out of the sun and not doing anything fun.

Hope you all have a great day!

I agree with Susie2007. Wish you SVR in the future!

Being Stage 1 I would wait for the protease to add to interferon and ribavirin.

Iam stage 4 and would retreat immediately, thats why i did extended tx  for 96 wks hoping it would give me svr. But if i was at your stage of fibrosis i would wait for a safer, shorter tx. Extended tx worked for me,  but i dont recommed it  unless u are cirrhotic. watched very close by a hep experienced with hepC. Also  good health helps alot with ext. tx    Good luck, I wish u svr the 2nd time around.

Gosh, it's so hard to make that decision on whether or not to retreat.  In my case it was a no brainer because I have Stage 3, Grade 3-4 liver disease.  If I was a stage 1-2 I'm not so sure I would have jumped right back on the treatment bandwagon.

Then again, I'm also the kind of person what would always wonder "what if" if I had not tried treatment again.  You pretty much have to use the same guidelines +1 more when making the decision to re-treat or not.  That +1 would be do you think you can handle treatment again.

Good luck to you whatever you decide.
