Tired of eating the same ol thing?

I don't think I'm the only one that has difficulty decided what to eat.  It just seems everything tastes the same, except for highly spiced food.  I tend to eat a lot of mexican and italian food, just because I can actually taste it!
Anyone have any suggestions?

Wow, I can really relate to you.  I eat a lot of Mexican food as it is the only thing that I desire for some reason.  I find myself basically all of the time just kind of wandering around trying to figure out what to eat.  I have no appetite but eat anyway.  I keep telling myself if I just give in to the no appetite and start to eat less I can really lose 10 lbs.  I am sorry I don't have an answer for you :-(

Have trouble eating sometimes,  I love to cook (well did)       lately i been doing a lot of frozen,
found this stuff frozen mandarin orange chicken, make my own rice,

I have a hard time with really spicey right now, love it, but i keep getting tongue bumps! they burn!  

Pasta always good! hmm

beans legumes, lentils,   they are always good, I have a couple of recipes for white bean soup, that is super easy and very good.

For a while there was a food string going, with simple recipes,  

maybe we should make a cooking corner? Then figure out ways to make them healthier or something?

Boy did that hit home....something I can relate to!   I have had a very easy time of tx, but deciding what to eat has ben an ordeal.  At first I only wanted fatty foods, but could not stand the taste of ice cream.  Could only eat Mexican and Italian foods.  Also could eat any type of chicken.  Thought I would grow feathers!  Also like the spicy stuff!

Still now I just stare in the fridge, grocery isles and restaraunt menus perplexed and undecided.  I just can't make up my mind.  Wierd.  Once I decide though, things are tasting better than they were the first 4 or 5 months.  

I still crave chocolate though, that never changed!  Poor hubby tired of eating what I want!

This week is my last shot.  Hoping to get the appetite back soon, but not the lost weight!

Thanks for bringing up this point.....it has made me crazy and my hubby even more crazy because I have been so fussy!

I nominate Mexican and Italian as the cuisines of Heppers!  

You nailed it, eating is an ordeal and a chore and a bore and a bother.  But Mexican and Italian food can usually get my appetite going.  Avocado always appeals, helps the pills stay down too.  But ice cream has lost its charms (and I used to love it!)  Even chocolate is ho-hum.  Try a peanut butter sandwich with bacon, sounds odd but has great flavor and the fat helps absorb the riba.  

That said, sometimes by the time I get any meal prepared there's always a chance I will have lost the urge to eat it.

Yes it is, you'd think I would have been done with this after the first time, but doing it four? I must be crazy!  Actually, I have a great doc in Dr.Sherman, he's kind of a geek, but he does research really well and I'm glad to have him on my team!

I like beans, etc.  especially that 9-bean or whatever soup and brocolli, thank goodness for fresh steamed brocolli and brussel sprouts...here again something that has a robust flavor.  Never had the bumps, thank goodness. I hope that was just a passing thing. I can't imagine!

I've been like that since I started my first tx in '98.  It was almost a ritual, ex wife hated it, but I could eat mexican 8 days a week b4 tx.    My wife now is beside herself, cuz she's always depending on me to pick where we eat! lol
Chocolate, hmmmm, Mr Chocoholic here, love it gotta have it.
Pretzels?  I can eat a whole bag of those stupid stick pretzels.
I've lost about 15 pounds and my a$$, wife keeps asking where it went?  heck I dunno!

Yep I'm with you all the way, like I told H20 I can eat mex 8 x week anyway, this just magified it. Love avacado w/lots of garlic salt. I've never had any problems keeping riba down, they say I should eat with them,but I take thyroid meds in am too and I'm not supposed to eat with those...so I just kinda throw'm all down together and they stay put!
mmm, pb and b? different have to give it a try sometime.  I'm just a cheeze and tortilla guy, maybe some refried if I have some opened w/Pace's Picante sauce!! mmmmmmm!

Quick Spanish Rice

2 cups long grain rice
1/4 cup canola oil (peanut might work, never tried it)
2-3 T chili powder
1 t cumin
salt to taste (gotta add some when cooking or the rice tastes funny)  
1 can tomatoes (whole or diced)
1 can Rotel tomatoes w/chilies
2-3 garlic do-dads, u know what I mean, chopped
1 rotel can full of water (to rinse out the goody left inside)

heat oil in a skillet (w/tight lid), brown rice, add spices while browning (about 5 minutes med-hi)
dump tomatoes, garlic, salt give it a stir, return to boil, reduce heat to simmer
cook 30 minutes (don't take the lid off before!!!)
stir it and serve it!

IHere is the white bean soup recipe, you can use turkey sausages they have the italian flavored now,  prosciutto in the deli, just need a little so don't panic at price per lb.

This freezes really well also!

INGREDIENTS


2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 pounds sweet or hot Italian sausage, in the casing
2 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto ham, minced
2 medium onions, in medium dice
2 medium carrots, peeled and in medium dice
2 medium celery stalks, in medium dice
1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
3 (15.8 ounce) cans great Northern or other white beans, undrained
1 quart chicken broth (carton or can)


DIRECTIONS
Heat oil in a large, deep saute pan or soup kettle over medium-high heat. When pan is hot, add sausages; cook, turning once or twice, until well-browned on all sides, about 5 minutes. (Sausage will not be fully cooked at this point.) Remove from pan. When cool enough to handle, cut into slices 1/4-inch thick.
Add prosciutto, onions, carrots, celery and thyme to the empty skillet; cook, stirring often, until well browned, 8 to 10 minutes. In a small bowl, mash one can of beans with a fork into a chunky puree. Add broth, whole and mashed beans, and sausage; cover and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer, partially covered, to blend flavors, 20 minutes. Let rest 10 minutes; serve.

yeah it does, a bit of a cultural difference
She's from Michigan, I'm from Texas
both german, but MAN what a difference! lol

Yeah the restuarant is easier, but at least you got lots of leftovers!
and that always goes good in a tortilla!
