wow - you're very brave to open your own business while on tx - kudos to you!
My guess is that they ran a PCR that reflexes into a TMA if the PCR doesn't detect any virus.
For example -- and just an example because I don't know what your doctor actually ordered -- Quest Diagnositic's has a test called "Heptimax". It's run in two parts.
First the lab runs a PCR part which goes down to 50 IU/ml. If the viral load is UND on this part, then (and only then) do they run the TMA part.
The TMA is also a quantitative but it goes down to 5 IU/ml.
So maybe that's what is happening in your case. They ran the PCR part and it's UND so now they're running the TMA part.
So you should know there are numerous other scenarios, such as a Bdna reflexing into a PCR, etc, etc. Sooooo....if you really want to know simply ask your doc what they're up to, or better yet have them fax you the test results, which is always a good idea.
Anyway, congratulations on the UND so far, and I hope to congratulate you on the more sensitive part in the near future.
All the best,
-- Jim
Congratulations! Wonderful news. The 2nd test is just a more sensitive VL check. If that is UND, then all is done for you!
