Savoy Brown's "One Act Play" is rather dark but soothing and perfectly followed by "I'm Tired" - Sometimes I sing in my head that line: "If I get myself together, you have the blues, not me".  (Yes I have issues)  It was lovely to read of your appreciation also.

John Coltran's "Central Park West" and the Kinks "Union Blues" - Get back in line - wow you really opened a box of memories.  Thanks

If I want to be happy I will play my Grandmother's music from Panama with a tempo that makes one move even if only a toe.  My Yaya was a large woman shaped like a ball on two sticks.  She had a way of lumbering around but when she played her records she would dance with such grace and rythm twirling so her dress would raise showing the lace of her slip like the foam of a wave.  Maybe too much info.

Hi Bob,

I haven't been listening to much music these days. Wish I were.

My younger son's wedding is next week and I wonder if you have a couple of favorite groovy songs you can recommend to play at the reception.

I haven't come up with a music list, which my son asked me to do. (I haven't learned how to use my new digital camera, either, and he also asked me to help with that - sheesh.)

Please let me know, if you have a chance.

Late entry - but I remember Savoy Brown - the original one - not the "Jack the Toad" group. "Stay while the night is Young", "Hernando's Hideaway". They played in Jacksonville, FL and the group that opened was a group called "Chicken Shack" - with a girl named Stevie Nicks that nobody knew.
The guy in Savoy Brown - Lonesome Dave - then formed a band - called- Foghat.

From Wikipedia
"Savoy Brown, originally known as the Savoy Brown Blues Band, are a British blues band formed in 1966, in Battersea, South West London.[1] Part of the late 1960s blues rock movement, Savoy Brown never achieved as much success in their homeland as they did in the United States, where they promoted their albums with non-s"

Shes got great big sexy legs I´m gonna call up China to see if the little girl is over there.!
Thats Sawoy Brown and they aint Country their blues .

I was just listening to Rita Coolidge (The Lady's Not For Sale). I think she sang back up for both Cocker and Russell, didn't she?

I've been in the midst of a Joe Cocker/Leon Russell "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" revival lately. Lots of clips on YouTube including what's likely my favorite:

Lol  your right its Sawyer Brown.  If my memory serves me correctly they did not start out as a country band. In the beginning it was hard rock and roll.  It wasn't until their later years they switched over.

Yes I would remember if I heard the songs.  My brain was pretty fried up back then.  Yep those were the glory years of nothing but fun, and low responsibility.  Drugs, sex, and rock and roll . Almost killed me, and still paying for those mistakes today.

Cream--Sunshine of Your Love. Traffic --Low Spark of High Heeled Boys.  Iron Butterfly  In A Godda Divida. ( spelling )   What about the long version of Layla. Those were some of my favorites.  Hearing those old rock and roll songs of the 60's and 70's always makes me smile.   Who could forget Jimi , Janis and those Doors?  That was talent, that was music.  Such a shame their lives were so short.

Anyway, life changes and mostly I listen to jazz now.  I find it soothing, relaxing.  When I visit with my girlfriend we always have a rock and roll party for one evening. ( lol its all we can handle now )  We turn it up loud and sing and talk about the old days, and how lucky we were to have made something out of ours lives.  Some of our friends were not so fortunate.  Looking back it was a rough life.  Still fun though.
