I dont think they can discriminate against you for hep c. I think it is important with anyone to follow universal precautions, so that should be in place in the classroom.
There are many medical professionals working w/ hep c, and I know of one surgeon, so....... I dont think its legal for them to be that broad, plus as you said you are "cured". I think we are all just a bunch of walking, ticking time bombs so its best to use caution, but no ostracizing. So many people are walking around with something or other and dont even know it, until.......... so take care, you'll be great... M4now
Boy that is a tough one, it is a document that you have to put your signature on, but would run it past your doctor to see what she thinks as to what she has to also put on it. You’ve did the treatments and so far so good but there may be another pre-employment form that will also have to be filled out unless this is the form you are talking about. When I filled out the pre-employment paper work I did state that I was Hcv positive and was questioned during the physical about it, and it did not seem to be a problem. Good Luck on the new job if this should not be an issue.

Thanks for the confirmation, and Americans with Disabilities info, the CDC website also states Hep C should not be a reason to deny someone employment.
I've been working in the private school sector in NV for the last 3 yrs. and have always taken precautions when I have a cut or dealing with kids owies!
My own kids ages 14, and 17 are hep c free, so feel confident that I would not pose a hazard to anyone at this point. Just a little more anxiety I didn't need this week. Can't wait til the drugs are completely outta my body! I've been UND since week 12, and waiting for EOT PCR.
Scratchinghead...LOL...I'll make sure I'm up to date on all my vaccinations...LOL
My guess is that you are pretty sure in your own heart that you are not contagious. So answer it accordingly. I would let my kid hang around you. (if I had a first grader).
You're more in danger of catching something from a first grader. Make sure they have their rabbi shots! hahahha
I posted you somewhere else. I'm slowly resuscitating.
HOW'S NICK?????
HOW are you???????
Girlfriend in a Coma weird...
Wyn it's weird - ain't it? LOL!
If you are SVR you are considered cured and you do not have to report it. If you are UND you are not contagious (I don't think).
After thinking about your situation, if it were me, I would NOT list Hep-C, because I know how school systems are. I'd also check with someone OTHER than your Dr.
Hey, Meki! I'm returning to the land of the living! MY God! I'm just starting to realize what a f***ing FOG I've been in the past 18 months!
I don't know how to answer this Jools..
I was shocked to learn that Florida - according to someone posting here --- considers HCV to be an STD.
Sheesh - I'd tell you that honesty is the best policy - However - in the REAL WORLD --- that isn't always true... Yanno?
Maybe call and ask them --- ask them to research it - and let you know - because they may have different qualifications for that than any other place if they are private - etc.
But the Americans with Disabilities acts should cover you.
Much hugs either way.
Yikes! i don't know the answer to that. I taught music for 20 years and when i was DX'd with hepc I wasn't required to report it to the district. I couldn't work but if I had, the hep c could not have impacted my job. But I'd been in that system for 7 years.
There is a portion of the Americans with Disabilities Act that refers to legal recourse for those discriminated against because of hep-C.
My instinct says that you shouldn't have to list hep-c as it's communicable only through blood and isn't like TB. Are you SVR, yet?
