Do I have a Hernia?

I have recently had a pain in my left groin (just below the waist) come out of nowhere. It feels like a hernia as I’ve have two surgeries done to remove them in the past. One being in the same spot as this pain. My doctor said it is most likely a ligament strain but I find it highly unlikely. The pain worsens when weight liftin and oddly, after smoking marijuana. It is not always a sharp pain but it is consistently uncomfortable and prevents me from doing certain activities. The sharp knife poking pain comes and goes. The area in my groin feels harder than the other side as well. Do you have any idea of what it can be? I have an ultrasound scheduled in 2 weeks
