Why does swimming cause pain on the incision area(inguinal hernia) after 8 months?

I had inguinal hernia on both sides. I opted for open surgery on Nov 2015. Post that i haven't had any physical activity except walking. I went for swimming on 20th july 2016. I had slight discomfort on the incision area for next few days after swimming. Is this normal? should i take any precautions?
