Hi, if a person was to have genital herpes, hsv1 is the one to have. Since it only sheds about 3-5% of the time, the risk for passing it would be close to zero with no sores at the time. And since it only breaks out only once a year, if that, you can have a quite safe sex life with minimal worries and taking antivirals would reduce that risk in half.
It there a slight chance you can pass it? Yes but not something to be overly concerned about.
A good thing to do is have her tested for hsv1 and many many people have it oral from childhood and if she does have it she can contract it again in the oral area and would be basicly immune to contacting it genital.
Can anyone help me out here? I would truly appreciate it . Thanks a lot.
I was swabbed then a week later the clinic said it was hsv1 an the lesions were on my penis.
How were you diagnosed with hsv1 genital? Lets start here.
Anyone else that can help me out in this subject? I have Genital hsv1 by the way .
Hi even today only I got tested n i got n equivocal hsv 1 igg after 4 weeks from exposure.I think if u r hsv 1 it wont spread to ur loved ones until u kiss them. Although having sex is entirely different if u dont hv hsv 2 on ur genitals it cant spread to ur girl friend. Take a different openion from someone who knows well. N plz correct me if im wrong.
Has your new partner had full std testing that included herpes igg blood testing? If you are going to not use condoms, best to see results for yourself so you are risking your own health less!! Also be sure to discuss gardasil vaccination too. Make sure that you both had the 3 shot series to help lower the risk of hpv too. Herpes can't hold a candle to oral, genital, and anal cancers from hpv!!!
Are you likely to transmit your genital hsv1 infection to a partner? no you are not. Be sure to read the free herpes handbook by Terri Warren if you haven't already to learn more about your genital herpes infection. The handbook lists the low rates of recurrences and shedding for hsv1 genital infections to give you more information.
should you ever avoid a relationship because of your herpes? NEVER!! The risk of transmission is always rather low. You are always much more likely to become pregnant while using the pill than you are to transmit a genital herpes infection, regardless of type. with odds like that, no reason to think of your herpes as a reason to avoid a partner.
