3 yrs living with ghsv1

Thank you for taking the time out and sharing your knowledge and advice.
I am a 33yr women and diagnosed with ghsv1 in 2011. It was the most scary thing in the world. I never had a std and this was the first thing I contracted a std that cant be cured. Anyway since having the virus i have had several other issues and seen my gyn. 1. I have constant discharges, burning, rashlike breakouts and vaginal discomforts. When having the initial breakout, which was horrible i was giving Valtrex for 14 days 1000mg. After finishing i havent used anything in 2 yrs. I not sure if im having reoccurances or is it in my mind and i having other vaginal issues. I also haveBV. Questions1 do u think i am having a reoccurrances of hsv1. 2. Do you as a health professional think a cure will come about in the never future. The confusion aboit this virus is heartbreakinv and scary. Do you also know of any case beyond 5 yrs involving ghsv1, are they having problematic symptoms when not using treatments?. Thank u

Thank you for responding. Yes i was diagnosed wiyh ghav1 may of 2011. I was 31 years old. I was positive by both blood and vaginal culture. I work for lab so I knew what to ask for and resulting. I have been to my gyn and he says it reoccurring bv. I never had such a issue until i contracted ghsv1. Do you believe ghsv1 is causing the infection by bringing on the bv. Ive read that ghsv1 will  ause discharge is that ture? Its sad and disheartened to read there will most likely never be a cure for people like me but praying that God will keep us all in our right minds and try to grant up a normal life. Thx for your work and committing it helps people like me.

just to confirm - you had a lesion culture of active symptoms that was hsv1+ to diagnose your genital herpes?

these sound like bv issues you are having. are you being seen every time you have symptoms to get properly tested?

honestly I don't expect to ever see a cure for herpes in my lifetime. we don't have any cures for viruses and certainly other life threatening viral infections I'd personally rather see a cure for.  herpes is such small potatoes!!!

in general, hsv1 genially doesn't reoccur very often at all. in between obvious recurrences, it causes you no issues at all.

keep asking questions!
