It's not hsv even if the cream has no effect.
No. That would be very unusual. The forehead is not likely to experience an outbreak either.
I agree with your Dr. That being said have one more type specific blood test. When it comes back negative believe it and move forward.
Hi feelingundone,
I just thought id update you on my symptoms. Still having some weird sensations in my legs, mostly my left leg. sometimes even my left arm and face. Mostly now my feet are tingling, sometimes they feel hot and a warm sensation for a few seconds. Last week I also had some burning sensations (sun-burn like) that were in my buttox for a few days, then inner thighs for a few days, then my penis head was tingling for a few days. The idea of herpes has really scared me because of the stupid one-time mistake I made, before that I was always so safe. Since the encounter I have seen 3 doctors, including my GP about 4 times. Each doctor has told me i have no evidence for herpes or any other STI. Last monday i noticed three spots on my groin, two of which had whiteheads and my doctor dismissed it as folliculitis and gave me an anti-biotic cream (which has helped greatly). I never had much pain with those spots, just when i squeezed one of them it and kind of burned/stinged for maybe a few hours. Also, for almost the past week I've felt an urge to urinate and that my bladder never fully empties (still feel like theres urine in my urethra after I'm done). I told my doctor this and she took a urine test last week. I just thought id update you because I'm still not 100 % convinced that I'm fine. My doctor has told me multiple times if you got anything from this encounter in September, it would have presented itself in a painful way by now. I just have read online about people never getting sores on their penis and only having leg pain.
So i guess i'm just wondering if you think i have any reason to be worried? Do you think there is a realistic chance i caught something from this encounter? My doctor seems absolutely certain I am fine and said i do not need further testing.
Not usually but you can ask her if she can call and get a copy of the tests. I know this is not an easy request to make.
She has been screened and tested (urine and blood test) but I'm not sure if herpes was included in this? Would doctors usually check for HSV in a routine STD blood test?
If you develop hsv lesions you won't have to search for them. They will be very noticeable.
For most people your Dr is correct. There are some that don't have any symptoms at all. For someone like you who is constantly looking, if you had a mild outbreak you would know it.
I think you are letting all of this get to you. Why don't you just ask your friend to test?
My doctor seems to think if I had herpes, I would for sure know it by now - it would be extremely painful. But what's worried me is that I heard this is not always the case
One last question.. I really appreciate your feedback by the way. Would herpes ulcers on the penis be the same texture at the rest of the glands and be painless? I noticed some circle spots just where the head meets the foreskin, but I can't tell if it's normal. I've been having some randoms pains in the penis but not in the areas where these marks are.
Thanks
I agree with your Dr. Stress is one of the leading causes of leg and back pain.
I think when your mind relaxes everything else will follow
Hey,
just on update on my situation.
Saw my family doctor today and her exact words when looking at the lesions on my groin : "i have been in this business for 30 years and seen a lot of STD's, and i can guarantee you that you don't have an STD." She said it is inflamed hair follicles and prescribed an antibiotic cream. She said there is no reason to do a blood test unless I have legitimate herpes symptoms. She also said by now i would have for sure seen an ulcer on my penis if this was herpes since i have never had cold sores as a child and first time infections are usually bad. I'm still confused about my nerve pain in my legs though. i really do not know what else it could be from
Knowing what I know about the virus I say I don't believe it's hsv. Neither did your Dr. The presentation of a cut is common in woman. Not so much in men. That being said I did mention in my previous post about testing. Enough time has oassed to make your results conclusive. At this point it's the only thing for you to do. I don't know why you've been thinling about this for so long without being tested.
Make sure you test is a type specific igg test. No igm.
what symptoms did you have?
I've heard herpes can present this way though? As a tiny burning cut on the groin... what makes you so sure herpes isn't behind my symptoms? I haven't stopped thinking about it for the past week. I appreciate any feedback and assistance
From what you describe I agree with your Dr.as this does not seem like hsv at
All. Syphilis is very rare in hetero couples. Very rare. It would be a single sore.
Again this does not sound like herpes and your Dr who examined you feels even stronger that it's not herpes. All good news.
One of the bumps on my groin when I squeezed it not looks like a tiny cut.it is mildly burning. Does this seem like herpes? Still no sores on my penis...
Update.
Went to the doctors today, she looked at spots on my groin area and said it's not herpes. They are quite hard like a pimple or ingrown hair and only hurt after I try and squeeze them. She said she doesn't not recommend a blood test for herpes, unless lesions or blisters appear because of the reason that I could have HSV 1 from childhood. She looked at my penis and said it looks a bit "yeasty" so prescribed some cream. She also recommended I go to a lab to get a psyphllis blood test just to be sure. I'm not sure if this is necessary, as herpes is still my only concern. The burning and soreness in my thighs continues and I'm not really sure what else this could be.
I understand your concerns but with the evidence of your partner being tested and your complete lack of classic symptoms I stand by my thoughts that this is not hsv related. Enough time has passed so why not take a type specific igg bloodtest? Do not have an igm test. Your neg result will be conclusive.
So I'm going to see a doctor hopefully in the next few days, but I thought I'd update you on some symptoms. Basically the only bad symptom I'm having is a burning feeling in my thighs.it's in my inner thighs, but sometimes in my outer thighs and back of my thigh and sometimes goes down my whole legs to my feet. I'm getting really worried, as I've read people with these symptoms have turned out positive for herpes even with no blisters. Any advice would be appreciated
Gotta go with feelingundone on this one. Sounds more like anxiety induced symptoms than and STD, but the only way to know for sure is to get checked out. Peace of mind does wonders for the body and most clinics can work with you or are free. Best of luck, keep us posted.
It would not. It wouldn't reveal NGU either. You can have a urine test for a uti. That will look for bacteria. If it finds bacteria they will test the bacteria for the type. Again this is definitely not an std but that doesn't mean your imaging it.
I should also mention both times I went to the doctor they did urine samples for chlamydia and gonorrhea (both neg).. would this reveal a yeast infection as well?
It isn't herpes related. I would go back and have them check for yeast or other skin or bacteria issues. This is not an std.
