Are false negative herpes blood tests possible?

Six years into our marriage, after my husband had sex with another woman, I was tested for all STDs and all were negative; about seven years later, I was diagnosed with herpes; is it possible my husband had it all along and it just took many years for me to contract it or is it more likely he contracted it after I was initially tested?

How were you tested 6 years ago? What was the timing? Was your husband tested? Can you get a copy of those results?

How were you diagnosed this time?

I'll try to help, but just to note that it may be impossible to ever know. I'll do my best to help, though. :)
