the armed services typically do not test for herpes as part of their testing.
do you know if you've ever been tested for herpes before to know your status?
grace
I can confirm that they do NOT perform IGG testing for HSV in the Army as part of their routine physicals and unit rediness exams.
I never had the test until he told me to get the test done. I will get my result on Friday.
what testing did he have done? did he have a lesion culture of active symptoms or a blood test?
He had blood test, called Comprehensive STD Panel, It included hiv, hepatitis, syphilis, gonorrhea, herpes simplex virus(1-2), and chlamydia.
ask him to give you his herpes test results to post here - e.g. hsv1 igg 4.3 and hsv2 igg 2.3 or whatever they are so we can make sure he was properly tested and to see if he needs additional confirmatory testing done too.
his hsv2 igg is a low positive and needs confirmed with additional testing. At this point get yourself tested and if your hsv2 igg is negative, he'll need to seek out a herpes WB blood test or a biokit hsv2 igg test to confirm his status.
there's a post on the forum onlow positives with more information in it - it's either on the bottom of this page or on page 2 I think since I had just bumped it back up the other day.
How can I go the the page of low positives? Thank you so much for your info.
We are living in Florida. How can he get the test? We would like to use biokit. There is no location near by. How? I have no clue... :(
Does your doctor use quest?
No need to start a new thread.
You provider can order the test directly from UofW and have them send you the kit have your doctor draw the blood and do the needed steps. But Quest can do it for you and we have the order code for it.
I got my result. I am negative on both HSV 1 and 2. My boyfriend's result got to be false.
you'll need to confirm his status with further testing. Unless he's never had another partner in his lifetime but you, you can't assume anything at this point about his status.
