Swabbing the blisters would have been the most useful thing, but probably not now. And with new infection, your blood test for herpes would not be positive yet. So if the test results are negative for HSV 1 and 2, I would repeat the antibody testing in 3-4 months for greatest accuracy.

OK. Remember that with first herpes infection, the blood test will be negative because not enough time has gone by from infection to production of antibody. You should really retest in 3-4 months.

Thank you - I did get the blood results - negative. I did have some blisters, along my leg/hip line, which were swabbed and will be cultured. The doctor thought it unlikely to be Herpes, but is checking. He actually thought a staph infection (can't remember the type). He said it was a common one, which rarely broke out so severely.
The Blisters are nearly gone. I called by gyn and couldn't get an appt until tomorrow. I asked if I should go somewhere else and they did not suggest any place and I could not find help on line telling me where to go to get a culture testing performed. I'm waiting for results of tests (blood & urine) from private std testing. I did give and receive oral sex.
Have you been so to see someone to have these blisters cultured? Are they gone now? The blisters could have been caused by either HSV 1 or HSV 2. When you say that you had oral sex, does that mean that you gave or received oral sex? If you received oral sex from your partners, even if they didn't have a cold sore, they could have been shedding virus from their mouth. Unfortunately, STD screening doesn't always (or often) including testing for herpes, so hard to say what it means that they tested negative for STDs. The blisters could be other things, yes, but the key is, did you get tested?
