Can someone help?

Worried if I have Herpes(HSV) had a Risky sexual exposure 2 years ago with a female. Ever since then i never experienced any type of sore or blister whatsoever up to this very point. The doctor at an std clinic back then checked me out physically and said orally he saw nothing out of the ordinary. When I insisted a test for HSV he said no need cause i dont have any blisters. What do i do now? Should I find another doctor to insist the test? Just worried about that

What was your risky exposure?

There is some debate about herpes testing. I think if after 2 years you haven't had any symptoms, you don't really need to test, and I say that because there are a pretty decent numbers of false positives on the hsv2 blood test, and unraveling that can take months and several hundred dollars, not to mention the anxiety it causes.

If you tell me more about your exposure, I can offer more advice about whether you even need to test.

It is oral and vaginal exposure unprotected
Well, that's a risk, but let's look at the transmission stats for a moment - it's probably not as likely as you think.

Ghsv2, female to male, over the course of a year, assuming sex 2-3 times a week (I use "female" and "male" for brevity, but I mean nothing more than the parts you have. Your gender identity is yours.):

Only avoiding sex during an outbreak - 4-5%

Adding condoms OR daily suppression - 2-3%

Adding condoms AND daily suppression - 1-2%

So even if you had a long-term relationship with someone with herpes, and just avoided sex when she had symptoms, you'd still have a 95-96% chance of not getting it. Getting it from a one-time encounter without symptoms is possible, but less likely. Definitely use condoms, but you're more likely to get chlamydia or HPV.

You can also get genital hsv1 from oral sex, and unfortunately, we don't have transmission stats on that.

Since you haven't had any symptoms in so long, I wouldn't worry about it.
