Shaving/Herpes

I shave regularly in the private area. The other day I used a different razor, with no shaving cream, and I shaved fast. In the next few days I noticed about 6 red bumps in the area that I shaved, at the base of the penis, and halfway up the shaft. (I get hairs there). A few of the red bumps had hair in the middle, which I plucked out. It has been a day and a night, and they look significantly better already. I have no other symptoms. I don't really have any reason to believe that I have herpes other than a rumor that was spread that I gave my ex GF the virus. I confirmed with her that I did not. I have never had blisters down there or experienced any "Primary outbreak". I have had a few of these bumps before, that seemed to come after shaving. Any way it could be herpes, or am I being strange ? I have been monogamous for months with the same girl as well, and I know that she is clean. I was tested for everything almost a year ago as well, and most of my sexual experience was before that test. After the test I was with a very small number of women.

Sounds like folliculitis to me, especially since this happens after shaving, and the red bumps have hair in the middle.  I wouldn't worry.
Good luck,
