Cold sore scar?

so about 4 weeks ago I got a cold sore, took my meds, and it never really blistered up and scabbed over. Instead I got flakyness that eventually stopped flaking and just left a red mark. Has this happened to anyone? and how long did it take to go away? The skin is intact and there is no sensations, but I still feel contagious seeing it.
Like I have explained in other threads, I have a kiddo who I do not want to pass it on to.
I have been putting Vit E and mederma on intermittently throughout the day.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Thank you & Happy Holidays!

I don't think this is a cold sore, more likely a sun spot or other skin issue (assume this is on your lips?)

no it was a cold sore. That's what they've always been like since I started using valacyclovir. but the red mark is new.
