Low Hsv2 results. False positive? What could it be?

Hello,

I’ve barely had any sexual interactions in my life. I was feeling very paranoid after my last interaction. I started to have major stomach issues to the point that I had to have scopes done. My dr said it’s luckily just ibs

But during the ibs symptoms I was also having vaginal burning and itching. Went to the gyno several times and she said it was just yeast. I took a hsv Igg blood test just to be safe. (3 months after my last sexual encounter)
It came back positive for Hsv1, negative for Hsv2

I went to another gyno as I was still having burning and redness/rash but no sores. Swab came back positive for Ecoli. Took topical meds for the ecoli. Felt a little better but still burning so I went back again.. and I wish I didn’t because she tested me for Hsv2 again and this time the test came back positive. 1.5 value, and then I tested again 2 days later because I couldn’t believe it was positive - came back 1.7

My question is could my test be a false positive since my first test was negative? If it is a false positive, what else could be causing the burning for this long? I don’t think outbreaks can happen for 2-3months? Maybe because the it’s the first outbreak?or back to back outbreaks?

I do feel like maybe it is a true postive because all other tests came back negative, I do have burning even though no visible sores, and the guy I was with isn’t returning my calls.. all bad signs.

But I am hoping it’s negative since I’ve barely had any sex, my first test was negative.

Also I am on day 7 of valtrex and still do not feel better. If it is herpes, what can I do to feel better if the meds aren’t working?

I feel so depressed. I’m from a very conservative community and feel like no one will date me now. I feel like my sex life has ended before it even began. I’m trying not to think about it but that’s very hard to do when my vagina feels like it’s on fire.

Also, can I not take another confirmatory test now that I am on valtrex?

Any advice will Be appreciated. Thank you

Thanks so much for your answer. I just don’t know what else it could be since I’ve been red, burning, and sometimes itching and tingling - everywhere I read says that tingling is almost always hsv. The tingling has gotten way worse since I started the valtrex.

The test is likely a false positive since you already have type 1. The test for type 2 is very sensitive and sometimes it confuses type  for type 2 causing a false positive.

You do need to stop the valtrex if you wish to retest. At least for a couple weeks.

You may benefit from taking the western blot test. It's for situations just like yours.

The fact your symptoms have lasted so long indicates that it's not herpes related
