Herpes on Oral Sex? was started.
I am posting this question hoping to find an answer to this problem. I hope a doctor can help me out because i cant even sleep anymore.
1) my exposure is that a friend who was cold sores was touching his mouth then directly touched my arms which had a cut. My friend didnt have a cold sore at that time but i know that it is still contagious. Can i get it that way?
1)I got test negative for herpes type 1, 2 months after my exposure. I tested negative for igm and igg. Do i still have to be worried or i dont have the virus?
Please help me out as i want an end to my problem.
Hi Terri,
I just collected back my blood test:
- Hep B Antigen: Non-Reactive
- Anti-HCV: <0.1
- HIV Antibody: Non-Reactive
- VD (Syph.): Non-Reactive
- HSV Type 1: 0.51
- HSV Type 2: 0.21
The specialist had declared me Herpes-Free :)
Btw, when I headed down previously for the consultation and test, he told me that the bump/blister on my penis shaft is actually a pimple or the infection of a hair follicle caused by folliculities. He had squeezed it which led to bleeding and it was rather painful. Haha.
These few days however, there seemed to be a new similar zit at my pubic hair region. I had squeezed it too and it seems to be healing now. I have been applying the cortison cream that he had prescribed to me.
Do you have any advises to prevent the outbreak of pimples in pubic regions in general. I guess I have a tendency to perspire a lot especially when I'm living in such a hot and humid climate.
Best Regards,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
The sores inside your mouth are canker sores, not related to herpes. The lesions could certainly resolve due to medication treatment yes. But they could also just resolve on their own because they are something else. It is so hard over the internet to make sense of the bumps that people tell me about.
I'm glad you are going to get tested. The sooner you feel you can stop the medicine the better as long term use of the antivirals can impact the test results. Let me know how your test results come out, OK? Taking the medicine, by the way, if this isn't herpes, will do nothing, and will just get peed out of your body.

Hi Terri,
I have never in my life experienced cold sores on my lips externally, just oral ulcers inside my mouth.
After 2 days upon discovery of the inflamed hair follicle, it seemed to have decreased in size and it has became skin-colour again (no longer red), but the small bump is still there. I have not made any other discovery of newly inflamed hair follicles or (painful or not) blisters/sores again.
If its was indeed my first outbreak of blisters/sores due to herpes (as claimed by the GP), could the symptoms have subsided due to the intake and application of medication and cream that he had prescribed to me? Or perhaps, I may already had herpes HSV 2 in the past but I am unaware of it.
Lastly, will there be any side effects for the consumption of the medication even if I did not contract herpes (hopefully)? I am keeping my fingers crossed.
By the way, I have not gone for my tests yet but I will do so asap. And I would like to thank you for your prompt response.
You have a great day, ma'am.
Ryan
I never ever diagnose someone by looking. All the medical advising groups indicate a test is necessary to confirm herpes. Also, you cannot determine if it is HSV 1 or HSV 2 by looking, they look identical. It takes a test to sort out the typing, so I think the doctor was advising you incorrectly. I definitely think you need an antibody test if the lesion is no longer present or a swab test if it is still present. It might be too late for a swab now, however.
You want type specific IgG testing for HSV 1 and HSV 2. It is most accurate to wait 16 weeks after an exposure to determine if you are infected or not. You could, however, do an antibody test now and if it is positive for both, you need not wait. It is important to know that if you are HSV 1 positive and have never had a cold sore, this could be either oral or genital infection, there is no way to know unless you swab from a lesion. Have you ever in your life had a cold sore on your lip? If yes, then it is extremely unlikely you would acquire this genitally as well.
