Could my Herpes indicate HIV?

Hi, I had unprotected sex with a new partner at the end of Feb2010 twice. I got HSV2 shortly after. Since than we broke as I thought he was not fully honest with me about herpes, even though he mentioned he contacted it in the past.

Anyway, I had my first outbreak and got antiviral medicine prescribed straight away. The simptoms were clasical but managable. I think I got several outbreaks, almost unnoticable, buring the first 2 months after the diagnosis.

I got a new partner, and after third month of my diagnosis, and after having lots of sex i had very severe outbreak of herpes with substaintial sores in my pubic area. Now, I wonder if this could normally happen, or there is a possibility that this is an indication of HIV. I asked my partner about HIV and he reasured his results were negative twice. However, I dought his honesty deap in my heart. Hence, I wonder if my severe outbreak of herpes could be a worning sign and if I should get tested for HIV. Thank you!

The best thing I could advise to you lh4ll is that you see your doctor and have yourself tested for HIV.  This could just be a bad reoccurance.  HIV isn't as rampant as you may think.  But if you are worried I would get tested.  You may want to contact your doctor for testing or you local health department may offer low cost HIV testing annoumously.

Im going through something similar. I found out 2 months ago I had genital HSV Type1. I am now going through my first recurrent outbreak and it is much worse than the first. Makes me worry that there is something else going on. I have read that certain things like stress or rough sex can trigger outbreaks, but dont know if they would make the outbreaks worse. I guess the best thing to do would be to see our physicians.

Best of luck!
