Dermatatis or genital HSV 1

I am a 41 year old heterosexual male....almost two years ago I had a full std panel done.. clear except for Hsv 1.... don't remember any breakouts in the past ... about 6-8 months ago had some red irritation on the head of my penis ... the second time it happened went to dermatologist .. she said if it's recurring then it has to be herpes... she then took a biopsy ( the spot was less than 48 hours old) after the results she said they looked for everything, including herpes... determined it was Dermatatis ...came back one or two times after ... always clears up completely In 2-4 days...no blisters, no scabs, no real pain, sometimes the red skin is a bit raised, but not for long...only shows up after masturbation (I do not use cream) or oral sex...came back again, after vigorous masturbation...went back to see dr ... she said it might be herpes because it comes back but after she saw it, she said looked like irritation ... gave me a cream... on the 3rd day of the spot, 2nd with cream, it is 90% cleared up ...BTW I have had multiple HSV 2 blood tests, always negative..,
Questions:
1. Does this sound like how recurring genital HSV 1 would act?
2. Can I assume it is dermatatis?
3. Can you check for HSV with a biopsy of infected skin?
4. Can Dermatstis recur in the same spot due to fricition?
5. Since I had no symptoms, before 8 months ago, and was already HSV 1 positive, is it possible I could have caught HSV 1 genitally?

Thank you

Question... As the spot healed, the 1st 4-5 days it healed 80-90 %... Then it stayed as a pink, shiny spot for another 7-10 days...there was never a scab or blisters... is that natural healing for Dermatitis or irritation.. did i use too much of the cream at the begining to help it heal.

1. This is clearly not hsv.

2. Yes.

3. Yes

4.yes

5. Yes. That being said I would bet your hsv1 infection is oral and from childhood. This is when most people contract the virus from being kissed by relatives. Small children have poor immune systems and the skin is easy to penetrate. If you did just acquire it the odds of a very nasty primary outbreak would be very very good for hsv1. Fever, body aches and swollen lymph nodes. This would also be accompanied by painful herpes lesions.

So I could have gotten Genital HSV 1 after a positive blood test? I thought that rarely happened?

Do you think HSV 2?
Sorry for the confusion. You are correct. Getting hsv1 genitally while having hsv1 orally would be very rare. So much so that it shouldn't be a concern.

I don't suspect hsv2 at all.
Last question...,The last one took 4-5 days to clear up, 3-4 with cream... does this change your opinion??

Thank you
Hsv lesions take 10-14 days on average to heal. Doesn't change my opinion
I'm sorry last question...  as the red spot healed, it got smaller and smaller... the last 2 days was just a small red dot .... is that usually how herpes lesions heal ?? Becoming small red dot? there was no scab..
That would be unusual for an hsv lesion.
PS... there was never any real ulceration. or pain..
