Do I have Herpes(HSV2) Please help

Hello, I am writing because I am stuck in a situation. About 2 months ago, I had gotten 2 weird ingrown hairs under my pubic hair, I popped them. After a few days I noticed it was not healing and my glands in my groin were very swollen, so I went to my doc and he diagnosed me with follicilitus. I was put on bactrim for 10 days and it did not work. Than I went back and asked for a blood test for herpes and was also put on Leviquinn for 10 days in case it was still a bacterial infection. After about another 2 weeks, so about a month from the initial outbreak, everything seems to go back to normal. I than got my test results back and my blood count was fine, hsv1 igm and igg were both negative, hsv 2 igm negative, BUT my hsv2 igg came back at a low positive with a score of [2.1]. This worried me a lot at first. I did some research online and I read that anything between 1.1 and 3.5 is considered a grey area with this testing, Its not a definitive answer and about 50% of the time its a false positive. This made sense to me because the IGM would have shown something because I was having what I thought was an outbreak at the time. Is this true? So everything had cleared up for about 2 weeks and than bam, i got a couple little blisters under my pubic hair that are extremely itch, however they dont seem to pop, they just kind of shrink and fade away, and no ulcer or lesion is left afterwards. Is there anything other than herpes that could present these symptoms? Its driving me crazy, and I am talking to someone new [relationship] and we are not intimate at all yet. I don't want to tell her I have herpes if I don't, but I also don't want to not tell her if I actually do. Please someone help me, this is driving me crazy and I am losing sleep over this. THANK YOU

I dont have insurance at the moment so the doctors is out of the question for me. If I purchase some antifungal cream for like jock itch or something and apply it. Do you think it will help?

Your doctor should take a swab and test it for fungus, bacteria etc.

Thank you for your response again. You are putting my mind at ease. The test was administered through QuestDiagnostic which I do in fact think is the herpeselect test. Can you be more specific as to how I would findout what type of bacterial or fungal infection this could be symptoms of? Or another virus? Do my symptoms sound like anything specific to you?

Your symptoms may not be herpes related. They could be fungal, bacterial or other virus.

Even if they are not herpes lesions, this does not mean that you do not have herpes. If the test was Herpeselect, then the result does indeed have a 50% chance of being a false positive. But which is the right outcome for you?

If it has been a few weeks then by all means try a repeat IgG test. Some people can test false positive for extended periods of time and others test negative. Another 1.1 to 3.5 result will mean you need the Westernblot to have certainty over your HSV2 status.

And also, what other diagnosis could this potentially be other than herpes?

And also, should I even waste my time going to a free clinic to get another blood test done?

Thank you for responding. The problem here is that at the moment I cannot afford to get the western blot test done. Let me add a little more info on the symptoms as well that I forgot to specify. I have 0 pain. These blisters to not hurt at all, my skin is just itchy sometimes and when they pop they do not turn into ulcers or anything. Is this typical in a herpes outbreak? It just doesnt seem to be following the typical herpes outbreak stages like I've been reading about. Also what do you think about my low positive on the igg? Is what I said about the gray area and false positives relevant?

I feel the best thing you can do is proceed to have a Westernblot test immediately. Whether you have herpes or not cannot be determined from these sores unless they are swabbed positive for HSV. A negative will not assist in the diagnosis as they may not be herpes sores or it may be too late to capture the virus on the swab.

The IgM test result is not able to be used. There is not a clear correlation between outbreaks and IgM being present.
