I have never had cold sores and neither has he. We have know each other over 10 years and are well versed in each other's history. The sore spot came about when my lips split due to being dry, chapped, and peeling. It lasted less than 2 days with no scab. I was wondering if the timing without symptoms is more is our favor.
I have never had cold sores. I am prone to canker sores though that's not the same thing. He also has never had cold sores as I have known him for over 10 years and never seen one on his mouth.
Hi, thats not correct at all that most have hsv2 gen also have it orally. The correct interpretation of this is that those with the same hsv in oral and genitals contracted it at the same time and this is more for hsv1 than hsv2.
Hsv2 really prefers the genital area and not the oral. If you tested postive for genital with a swab and concerned you have it oral as well then you would need to have a lip swab of a sore to confirm this. In all likely hood you have oral hsv1 and genital hsv2. Have a blood test to confirm both. Those with a long term infection in one area are basicly immune to contracting it in another.
He should have a blood test as well as if he has oral hsv1 as do most people then he would could not contract it again and having hsv1 would help a bit to block getting genital hsv2 as some antibodies are present.
