I can only imagine the stress you have, i too have gotten very stressed over not knowing. However, unfortunately you'll have to wait. The way these tests works is a little strange. You could test 1.5 one day 1.1 the next and 2.3 the one after that. It's a count of antibodies detected so it's constantly changing. That being said you are in the false positive range and I've read having hsv1 can often give increased chances of false positives for hsv2. I've also seen on this site drs say something like 30% of people who are in the false positive range actually end up being positive. So odds are you're ok. I've read 70% of ppl will test positive at 6 week mark so you can retest then. If negative that's a good indicator to being in the clear. But 12 week test should be definitive.

Sorry about that.  Just read your post again. Ok so since it’s only been 3 weeks your Dr. is airing on the side of caution and will more than likely retest you again. It takes at lest 9-12 weeks and at the max  6moths( don’t quote me on that) for the the most  reliable/ accurate IgG test results. 3 weeks might be a bit to soon for an HSV test. Its  definitely unlike testing for HIV. HIV test are more advance then HSV test are ( sorry to say) and take much longer to pick up on an  accurate count of antibodies in your body fighting the virus.

Best of luck

I’m just so confused could this be from the encounter 3 weeks ago or is it from earlier my last test was in January and that was negative I took another test somewhere else and the range went from 1.50 to 1.17 I’m just so scared and alone I haven’t eaten and been taking off of work due to this depression

You're either infected or you're not. What test did you take and what were the number results?

Immunology/Serology hsv2 1.5 igg
Hello there. Ok let me make sure I understand this. So you went for a HSV AB( antibodies) IgG test correct? The reference range came back as 1.5 for HSV? Right?

1.) can you recall seeing a  sign on your results?

2.) when was your last possible  exposure from the time you went for the test at your doctors office?

My only  personal guess would be that you had the test just a couple weeks after your last exposure and the  dr. wants to wait and retest  you to see if your antibodies reference range has  risen to a definitive positive range.

My best guess with the information you provide.

Hope this was helpful!
It say 1.6 H for HSV2 IgG but I went somewhere else and now it’s lower it went downt too 1.18 HSV2 IgG the dr told me going down is good news it’s possible to be a false positive I went somewhere again today this place did igm and IgG testing she said igm would tell if the infection is recent or if I had it for some time with this being said I would know whom I got infected from which would put my mind a lil more at ease even though I rather the test be negative all the way just praying and hoping it’s a false positive and it will go down
