There is no more clarity to be had. The facts are:
- the result is not positive, infected people usually test over 5
- there are proteins in blood sometimes that raise the tested levels.
Anything else is speculation.
Only a retest is add to your knowledge. If that is equivocal or low positive, then the Westernblot could be considered.
Thanks for chiming in!
Anyone else have any information on to why two equivocal results would pop up? And how accurate is a low equivocal result such as .93?
In the vast spectrum of oral herpes most that do contract it are from a male receiving the oral and its most often associated with hsv1. Those with oral herpes either have a lip sore or the virus is on the surface from shedding and its rubbed into the penis shaft.
A person giving a women oral is not as risky to contract it. as hsv2 prefers the genital area and licking her genital area with the tongue is mixed with saliva which contains enzimes that kill things. Not that its impossible, its just not something that would be overly concerning.
Do any of the other respected board members have any inquiry?
My thoughts as well, for both to be equivocal seemed dodgy.
Thanks for your input.
I agree this seems like a bit of a faulty application of the test to me. For whatever reason, the control minimum my have ended up too high as an example, it could also be unrelated proteins in her blood.
If you are concerned, perhaps a retest is in order, good chance it will be negative.
