Genital Herpes: What are the chances?

August-November 2012: Sexual contact involving oral and vaginal sex (partner was a virgin, I was not)
November of 2012: Last sexual contact
August 2013: Visited doctor about sore throat feeling and prescribed penicillin (really only drank one pill out of the whole bottle)
September 2013: College has already started and get a really intense vaginal itching one morning that I used my finger to scratch

*Assumed it was a one time occurrence, but from this point on the itching continued. Went to campus clinic and was told that they found white blood cells in my urine. They assumed it was a UTI and prescribed me the proper medication

The itching continued, more intensified with a little burning while peeing and discomfort when sitting: It was itching all day for a number of days and would not go away!

I came back and saw a different doctor at the clinic; this time I had a vaginal examination done and a culture taken.  A couple of days later, the results: Negative for bacterial bladder infection, chlamydia, gonorrhea!

I was told to stop taking the Doxycycline they prescribed to me and to "drink water more water for a few symptoms and the symptoms will go away"

They persisted: Several visits later I was downstate again and visited the doctor about the symptoms. I had a complete lab test done and came back positive for HSV1 while I was assuming the whole time that it had to either be a yeast infection or herpes.

I was prescribed fluconazole for the yeast infection symptoms I told them about. When I returned upstate I saw a different doctor here, because the itching still persisted and was now accompanied by pelvic pain. I was getting tired of the old doctor; she had three cultures done and NOTHING!

The new doctor found that I had both a bacterial infection and a yeast infection: I was prescribed to take penicillin first and then fluconazole after the penicilin was done. After I finished the doses I went back because the itching still persisted and so did the pelvic pain.

I was prescribed a stronger dosage of penicilin with another fluconazole pill and just finished it the other day: The pelvic pain went away (even though I have been feeling pelvic pain again for the past 24 hours but my period is due tomorrow or the day after so I have dismissed it) but the pinprick itching is way less than the initial symptoms but still there.
*This problem has been persisting for over 8 months!!!

Yesterday I discovered a pimple on the outside, lower part of my vagina. I hadn't even felt it there until I was getting ready to shower. When I took the mirror and looked at it, it was a considerable size and had a clear liquid come out when I touched it. I have been feeling it all day today ever since, because I squeezed it a little. On top of that, I still feel pin prick itches coming and going down there and, at times, weird electrical feelings of shock (if that description makes any sense).

At first I was devastated to find out that I had HSV1 but doing a little bit of research: (1) reassured me that I was not alone (2) I could have gotten it as a kid (3) it is not the end of the world

Now, I have come to terms with it. So, please don't spare me in telling me what you really think.

Is it genital HSV1 that I have been experiencing for these last 8 months? Are my yeast and bacterial infections persisting? Are the doctors giving me the wrong prescriptions to fill their pockets?

P.S. Is it really not possible to find out what part of the body HSV1 was contracted? Was it from my oral sex encounter or from the mouth?

About me: My self-esteem, particularly concerning my looks are not too high and could use some help. So, finding out that I have HSV1 has put me at a setback in life. It really makes it harder to believe that I will find someone who is accepting of my condition, if I told them.

The chances are solidly with that you have an oral HSV1 infection from your childhood. This would also mean a much reduced chance of obtaining HSV1 genitally.

It is not common to experience symptoms for 8 months with genital HSV1, although it does happen in a few cases.

Proving it may be done with say a 1-3 month swabbing regime. The Westover Clinic offers this for their patients if you are in the US.

Perhaps you could ask you doctor for a 1-2 week dose of acyclovir and see if that helps your situation. If it does, well it doesn't prove HSV1, but at least you'll be a bit better. If it does nothing, then again other causes are more likely.

Additional comment:

I recall also having a very uncomfortable rash around my anus that last for about 3 days. It was a bit painful and uncomfortable to sit, despite the urge I had to scratch it.
