HSV-1 Oral Immunity Against HSV-1 Genital Herpes

I have a question... I am a 35 year old male with an HSV-1 oral infection I've had my entire life. I can't seem to find much information on the immunity having these antibodies affords someone from HSV-1 genital infections.

I am in a relationship with someone who has a HSV-1 genital infection. Assuming they're on antivirals, not having an outbreak, no broken skin, and we use a condom, what is the possibility of me contracting genital HSV-1 from intercourse? I know this is going to be an oddly compounded statistic. Thanks!

You have great protection against getting hsv1 genitally for two reasons. First your oral infection really does give you a sort of immunity to getting hsv1 elsewhere. It would be very rare with an established oral infection to get hsv1 genitally. Second hsv1 when a genital infection has few outbreaks and sheds very little. It is also extremely rare for hsv1 to be spread from genitals to genitals. So in your case you are double covered abd if i were you i wouldn't be concerned at all. It's a win win. You can't give her hsv from oral sex and she cant give it to you through intercourse.

Unfortunately I can't provide you a statistic, personally in my own struggle with HSV-2 genital and through years of research, I've come to realize everyone's bodies are different and herpes effects everyone different.
I'm in a long term relationship with someone who doesn't have herpes. We used a condom and my partner gets regularly tested to insure his own health.
The most important thing I've done to keep my body strong against the virus is used many herbal remedies to fight the virus.
I don't think there is a high risk for you contracting HSV-1 genital, especially since you have it orally. The virus is already in your body and over years it has built some type of immunity to it (the strength depends on how many/ frequent outbreaks are for both you and your partner).
Please research Oil of Oregano and it's use in treating herpes.
Good luck!
