Can you recieve a false negative during an outbreak?

I have been having odd outbreaks of something in my genital area, I got a test for all the major STD's, including herpes, but the test came up negative. I know it takes a few months for antibodies to build up in the system, but it is not likely that I have contracted it in the last 4 months at least as  ihave been with the same partner who also tested negative.

My symptoms were an outbreak of small, pearly bumps which eventual scabbed an left along my shaft, and a single larger, almost wart-like, bump that eventually filled with pus, and went away. I have had no tingling, and the only itching was usual, psycho-somatic (occurring only during panic attacks about having herpes), and not really in the same area as my outbreak. The only pain were the few hours after the larger lesion filed with puss and I popped a small whole in it, and even that was pretty bearable. I am completely unnerved by this whole situation.

how much time is enough time to find out what is happening? with a blood test, I have been panicing and breaking down for over a week now. im at about 9 weeks pregnant now, and on my first prenatal visit i had a papsmear done and was told that i had herpes, she took one look and diagnosed me. she said that i was blistering up on my cervix, and she seemed certain that it couldnt be anything else. i then had my blood drawn to get 2 tests done with one draw, which was my htc level and to get tested for herpes. now i'm confused because i had another papsmear done 5 days later by a different dr. and she told me that it did not look like herpes, that she was certain that it was not, but later came back to give me packets explaining certain std's including herpes. then another few days passed and she (2nd dr.) called me to tell me that my blood test came back negative and she does not have the culture test back yet, although i was happy at first and then thought about a possible false negative since i had my blood drawn once for 2 test to be done with it. so i'm still in some panic and trying to find answers on my own, or well research as much as i can. so back to my question, is it possible to have a negative blood test during an actual breakout? i feel body aches, which im confused with, i havent had an appetite lately so i have been eating only once a day or not at all, not taking my prenatal vitamens regurarly, my throat hurts, my arms are the most sore and in pain. i need answers, im so confused and panicing for my daughter i have now and for my current pregnancy. also, the first dr told me that i had an oversized ovary which might be a tubal pregnancy or a cyst. adds more to my worries. the second dr told me that she is going to put together test for possible cervical or ovarian cancer. i'm just in a total panic and stressing to myself.

the vast majority of folks who are infected with hsv2 will test + on the blood tests if enough time has passed.  Unless your partner has been stepping out on you recently your blood test is accurate.

molluscum will not fill with puss and then go away.

the other likely cause is Molluscum, but I don't know how to identify that without shelling out another $200 to some doctor to not tell me anything. All the initial ones have gone away now and there are new one, painless, flesh-colored bumps that don't seem like blisters. I am having severe anxiety attacks daily, I do not know what to do.

ok, but can anyone on this forum answer a question directly. Is it possible to have a false negative during an outbreak that had been going on, for say, a week.

Both of you having negative blood tests means that this isn't likely to be herpes.  I'd keep returning to your provider to try to find out what is going on.

How were you tested for herpes? How was your partner tested for herpes?
