Thank you for your answers. I will wait for his results to come back and then decide what to do..
On first exposure with HSV of either type then yes the chances are good of having an outbreak. For many people this can be very minor and potentially unnoticeable. Some people do not have an outbreak on infection.
Yes a yeast infection can be misdiagnosed herpes. But remember, most yeast infections are just that, yeast!
Potentially seek another type specific IgG test and if you are over 5 then I'd suggest there is no doubt. Alternatively you could seek a Westernblot test to settle any doubt you may have.
Am I supposed to have an outbreak if I was recently infected?
Is it possible to confuse yeast infection with herpes??
My partner got tested but the results didn't come back yet..
Hi, I was recently tested for STDs. Reason was because my partner was tested positive for chlamydia. So i decided to go ahead and make sure there is nothing else going on. So chlamydia came back positive and to my surprise Hepres results came back positive as well. The results are:
HSV 1 negative
HSV 2 igg 1.54 positive
I got retested 2 weeks later with a different lab
HSV 1 still negative
HSV 2 >5.00 positive
How is it possible for igg number to go from 1.54 to >5.00 in just two weeks?
I had a yeast infection 5 years ago. Or so i was told. I got treated for that and never had any symptoms since.
How likely it is to have zero outbreaks in 5 years, if I actually had HSV 2 for long time?
Thanks

One interpretation is that you have been recently infected and building antibodies. Your partner may be the source and was probably not tested for herpes recently.
Equally it is possible you've had the virus a longer period of time and that particular kit didn't reveal such a strong positive.
It is not unusual to have no recollection of symptoms or have passed them off as something else.
