HSV 2 test results

My last risk for HSV was 8/30/09.

I had an HSV I/II test peformed on 11/17/09
The results were:
HSV I IgG-5.30
HSV II-2.0

I had a Western Blot performed on 12/29/10
HSV I-positive
HSV II-negative

My doctor wanted to test me again, so on 3/15/10, I got another Western Blot performed.
HSV I-positive
HSV II-indeterminate

I just wanted if another test should be performed?  I was thinking another WB or a Biokit. I would like to know my status for my general health and piece of mind.

I have no apparent symptons(HSV I/II), although I know I could be asymptomatic.
I also know that my positive HSV 2 result could be false because of my HSV 1 positive result, and that it is <3.5
I have been on 500 MG of Valtrex daily for suppression since December because I am in a relationship with my boyfriend, who is both HSV I/II negative(we practice safe sex).

Thanks so much!

I'd have your provider call the U of washington and ask them to compare them both for you.

Thanks for all your advice everyone.

Grace, I did request the form as Terri suggested.  When the nurse called me back with my results, she said that there was no form(s) to compare the two tests.  She also stated that I should look into a diease specialist if I wanted to know more detailed information.

Anyway, I will be getting a BiokitHSV 2 test performed sometime within the next month or so from a different provider.  My results/diagnosis hasn't really affected my life/well being so far, but I just want to be on top of my health regardless.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Until then...

did your provider put the date of your last test on the request form for them to specifically compare the two like Terri suggested in your post to her in January?

petal, I do not mean to be belligerent in the least, but Terri said "if" the test was still negative she was in the clear.

I am not sure what indeterminate means, (similar to equivocal?) Grace might though.

I can understand why you are still frustrated. Not having symptoms puts you in a position to worry and to doubt a positive test. Honestly, it's up to you whether or not you feel another test should be performed in the end. Have you considered going back to your original post on the expert forum for an update? (sorry if I'm suggesting anything against forum etiquette)
