Research::
- Dr. Keith Jerome at the Fred Hutch cured HSV in humanized mice (potential in 5-7 yrs)
- IM-250 : tested effectively in mice
- Univ. Penn mRNA vaccine proven effective in guinea pigs
- Univ of Ill. at Chicago showed promise when using phenylbutyrate along side acyclovir
Current treatments ::
acyclovir (Zovirax), famciclovir (Famvir), and valacyclovir (Valtrex)
The rabbit hole of "natural treatments" and remedies is never ending and fraught with peril, proceed cautiously.

I don't keep up with the research much - I've had herpes for almost 20 years, it won't change much in my life if it's cured. I do think we are closer than ever to a cure though, and Terri Warren has agreed with that.

It is quite heartbreaking if you've followed it for the past 10-15 years. I had high hopes for GEN003, and alas it failed like the rest. I'd say with AI, CRISPR, and some other factors we are still 10 years away.
Terri Warren says we are closer than we've ever been to having something in the next 10 years, but I agree - it's not anytime soon.
I think a cure would be amazing. Or a vaccine. Or something. In the meantime, I always advocate for trying to find a way to accept it, and find peace with it. I don't want anyone to put their lives on hold while waiting for something.

You are spot on. Life is happening now, not after some medical breakthrough.
