HSV1 Transmission by sharing a bowl (pipe)?

Hey all-

I think my friend had a cold sore or at least there was a pimple on the corner of his mouth and it was definitely on its way out...whatever it was.

Anywho, we were freezing outside and decided to share a bowl.  Just curious what my chances of catching HSV1 from this encounter?  I know people say slim to none, but I just don't buy it and it was stupid of me to do it.

Thanks.

There is a theoretical risk but the likelihood is low that you'd get herpes 1 this way. People who say it is slim to none are right. But you know, getting high makes people not think very well. Not worth it. This time it is sharing a pipe, next time it could be who knows what.

That's the thing, I think I was too paranoid that I lost any type of high!  Usually I'm on the lookout for these things and it was dark, and I saw it after the fact.

Thank you for letting me know the likelihood is low.  Is there anything I can do in the future to prevent this from happening?  For instance, if I still want to smoke with my friends...but don't want to catch anything?
Also, I've seen on earlier posts, a lot of people say it can't be transferred this way similar to sharing drinks, food, etc...

Has that statistic changed over the years?  Thanks.
