Thank you for all your advice. I decided to get retested and made an appointment with I.D for the simple fact I don't want to play Russian roulette with potential partners. (Not that I will be having sex anytime soon!!!). Men can be very cruel (well, maybe the one I met)
This experience has been eye opening. I will post the new results once I get them. If I'm negative I will definitely go back to my *** hole doctor and school him.
Remember, in his world CMV is a culture test hehehehe.

This doctor is uneducated and a fool. You do not have confirmed herpes. For your peace of mind a test 12 weeks after the last sexual contact will be conclusive.
Fleetwood20.
I did not have any flu, I was told CMV was a culture test.
I try to talk to my doctor he seemed irritated by me.
He advised "I'm the patient and he is the doctor" and "I have herpes".
He further stated that, it doesn't matter the time of exposure leading to me being tested. For the reason, I could have gotten infected anytime during the duration of my relationship. Basically, 1.49 is a new infection.
Do you know any places I can retest?
I'm really sorry that you have come across a rather incompetent doctor who should not be advising you the way he is.
Good for you for getting the results, now let's see about an interpretation.
IgM are short term response antibodies that are present soon after an infection and sporadically thereafter. Testing for them is fraught with meaningless negatives and false positives. For adults it is really questionable as to whether this test should even be performed.
IgG is the reliable test. These antibodies are present for life once infected.
Now, you tested for CMV. Not sure why you were. Most people have this and in some illnesses this virus can become quite active. Interestingly you do not. Did you have a particularly bad flu or dizziness with headaches etc.?
You only had an IgG for HSV2. That's OK as 60% of the population have HSV1. It would be helpful to know your status for HSV1 however.
You are negative for HSV2. Given testing windows this means you are pretty much guaranteed to be negative more than 16 weeks before the test and realistically 4-6 weeks before the test. This does not seem to be relevant though for you. If you have had one partner only who does not have HSV2, and you have a negative HSV2 test, then it is not possible to have been infected with HSV2.
IgM as mentioned is largely a useless test, little more than an indicator. In order of likelihood, the reason why it is positive includes:
- you have HSV1, an oral cold sore infection and happened to trigger the test
- a false positive has occurred, which happens quite frequently
- you have recently infected with HSV1, which would have to come from your partner's oral HSV1 infection should he have one
- or you have just been infected with HSV2... which appears a zero chance and lies well behind the above to explanations.
Overall I stand by earlier comments. The most likely outcomes here are that you have a childhood HSV1 infection or have no HSV infection at all. Other possibilities seem far to remote at this time.
I'm sorry about your partner. I hope you might be able to show him this thread to stimulate his thinking. There are many uneducated doctors about.
Fleetwood20 please read my last two comments. Thanks in advance :)

My doctor said I'm positive.
He basically said "I don't care to talk to you because you think I'm lying" but what I'm I suppose to think when a doctor tells me you are positive.
I see lots of post with numbers? Does that matter? I will go back to my doctor and ask him for a copy.
BUT eventually I did find blisters that scabed after the doctor told me I tested positive. I was under lots of stress, I didn't sleep, I was literally looking at my vaginal area with a flashlight. Till this day I still do. I still feel weirdness down there.I keep thinking its an outbreak about to happen, but I see nothing. What other illness causes blisters to scab?
A combined test isn't all that useful, as most of the time, a HSV1 infection is detected. This is a cold sore infection from your youth. Most likely one of your parents gets cold sores.
No reason to suspect you have HSV in your genital region at all.
Your partner's reaction is unfortunate and a cynic like me would say a bit ridiculous. 60% of women carry the virus... he's really going to strike them all out because this?
It's been three months and I haven't had an outbreak.
I do not believe I fall under a false positive rage because I had symptoms. At first it just an itch that wouldn't go away (it was bothersome) I just thought it was part of having sex for the first time and paid no attention to it.
I didn't have blister for that month and half until my doctor said it looks like herpes. I believe he swab something and keep asking if I was in pain while poking me. I was never in pain.
After that, that's all I though about HERPES day and night with a mirror and a flashlight. Then I found found blisters that scabed.
I accepted the fact its herpes, but how can he be negative?? I know he is negative because he wasn't stressed anymore and told me he didn't want to be intimate because he didn't want to get herpes.
