Has anyone else gotten a Western Blot?

So, I had a HerpeSelect IGG test come back with a positive value of 2.52 (which was a big shock to me since I've only ever slept with one person, and he tested negative both before and after we had sex).  After doing some research, I discovered that my result was considered a 'low positive'.  Since it's been 8 months since any possible exposure and I've still never displayed any symptoms, I decided to jump through the hoops needed to get a Western Blot test done.

I was wondering if anyone else has gotten a Western Blot test done, and if so, how long did it take to get your results?  I personally overnight shipped my blood serum to the lab, and they received it on June 23rd.  I was told that once the results were in, they would mail the results to my doctor's office.  But it has been three week, and I just called the doctor's office today, and they still haven't received the results.  When I tried calling the lab, they said because of HIPA privacy laws, they could not tell me anything about my results over the phone (including whether or not they'd been mailed yet).

I'm kind of going nuts with the waiting, and I'm starting to feel paranoid that something went wrong with my blood sample.  So I'd love to hear about others' experiences with getting this test done.

It took me less than a week to get my results, but from what I gather that was on the quicker side compared to those I know that got the same test.

2 weeks is the average based on the information I've gathered and the experiences of others.

3 weeks is awfully long. I would expect your results to be ready any day now. When I called the U of W they told me when my results were ready and to call my doctor (Westover Heights clinic) to obtain the results. Not sure why they can't even provide you that information.

So, I got my doctor's office to call the lab, so I was finally able to get verification that the lab received my blood specimen.  But my results *still* haven't been mailed.

I really had no idea getting this test could take so long!

Yeah, I called the number listed on the University of Washington Virology Lab's website, and the person who answered the phone confirmed that it was the lab.  I was told they couldn't give out any patient information over the phone.  I tried calling the 800 number, and I was told the same thing.

I was told that my doctor's office could call and the lab could talk to someone from the office, so I plan to do that tomorrow.  I just think it's so strange that it is taking so long to get my results.  I really hope something didn't get messed up with my sample.

I recall calling the U of W hotline and then being transferred to the lab. I don't know if the rules or procedures changed, but when I followed up they said they received my sample and also when it was completed. It's how I knew to call my doctor to obtain my results (my doc didn't call me). Not sure why you're having such issues.

You sure you have tried calling the lab direct or possibly U of W and speaking with a contact there on the matter?

So, I tried calling both the lab and the 800 number again.  Neither place would budge.  They absolutely refuse to give me any info over the phone.  They won't even verify that they received my sample. :-(

When you called in, did you call the lab directly, or did you call the 800 number?  I called the 800 number, and the person I spoke to wouldn't even look up my information because he said he wasn't allowed to tell me anything over the phone.

Yes, I have already sent in for the Western Blot.  What I want to know is how long it takes for the results to come back.  It's been 3 weeks, and I still haven't gotten my results.

Hi, your number surely falls into the false positive range and retesting with the WB is the way to go.
