Help! Possible current outbreak.

p_z
About 1 or 2 days ago I looked down while taking a **** and noticed that a rash had developed on my glans and shaft. Upon further inspection, there are individual red spots (maybe apx 6-8) along the glans and a decent amount that appear to be along the shaft as well. Neither or these spots is in any pain. Neither of these spots seems to have developed or ruptured. They just stay consistently there and remain looking red and irritated. I have no idea if this is even herpes because as far as I can tell, there are no immediate visible "clusters" of spots. There are only 2, possibly 3, areas along the shaft that resemble a "blister", but they look just like an acne blemish would that I would get on my face. Only once before has this happened, but when this occurred the first time, it was far less severe, and the "blister" as described above was only one single one. I popped it and it reacted exactly like an ance pimple would. I notified my doctor and even showed pictures and they didnt say anything about herpes and didnt freak out or tell me that it looked like herpes at all. So now with this most recent issue, I am now very worried of having herpes. But isnt this supposed to hurt? Isnt this supposed to be painfully obvious with open ulcers and crusting? I have no idea if this is HSV1 or HSV2 either. What does genital HSV1 act like? Please advise. (I would attach pictures but I do not know how!). Also ask any questions you have if I was not clear enough.

So my first question is why haven't you had a doctor check it out in person? Really, the only way to know for sure if it's herpes is to have a doctor culture it. The sooner you can get in, the better, because as soon as things start to heal, it's harder to get an accurate result. Make sure they do a type specific herpes culture.

You could also ask to get a type specific IgG blood test.

This may be herpes, it may be something fungal, like jock itch, or something else entirely. Genital hsv1 looks and acts exactly like hsv2, though you probably wouldn't have as many outbreaks, but everyone is different. Most people find a herpes outbreak at least uncomfortable, though some are more painful than others.

Honestly, it doesn't sound like herpes, but it definitely sounds like something a doctor should see.
