REFERENCE RANGE: NEGATIVE
The IFA procedure for measuring IgM antibodies to
HSV 1 and HSV 2 detects both type-common and
type- specific HSV antibodies. Thus, IgM
reactivity to both HSV 1 and HSV 2 may represent
crossreactive HSV antibodies rather than exposure
to both HSV 1 and HSV 2.
This test was developed and its performance
characteristics have been determined by Focus
Diagnostics. Performance characteristics refer to
the analytical performance of the test.

The reference ranges show the cut offs between positive and negative. Your results are positive. They have been cut off at 8.0 and most people with the virus will test above 8.0, there's nothing high about it than sense.

This looks conclusive but if you really desire confirmation the consider the Westernblot test. Ask your doctor about it, call Westover Heights Clinic to become a phone patient or look at the Uni of Washington website for more details on obtaining the test.

I had no symptoms but had my yearly exam and wanted all testing done.. The strange part is several places on the test it says negative like this
End note 1: Herpes simplex antibodies virus 1 & 2 igg reference range: <=0.8 AI negative.
That 8.0 just seems like a pretty high number I've never had symptoms and that verse above plus negatives written in the reference line throws me off.

Check the paper result carefully just once more.

If it says >8.0 H for both HSV1 and HSV2 then this indicates you have been infected with both viruses.

Very likely you have had both these viruses for some time.

What were the circumstances that lead to you testing?
