Herpes?

In the middle of July 13' I noticed a spot on my upper lip was red an swollen all sudden. No pain, no anything. The swelling would go down an up for  3 weeks. When I would push my tongue on the inside of it and push out it would be a white dot. At the 3rd week going on 4th I went to OBX and after being in the ocean two days it came to a head. Where I popped it and white puss came out like a normal pimple. It swelled for a few hours but by end of the say the swelling was gone. Never scabbed or anything but never fully went away. I could always see the red dot. Since then it was about ever week other week it would flair up ever so slightly one day last a day or two then go down but never fully go away. Now sept 13' it's every week or every other day. Will flair up I'll put chap stick on it then at night pit vasoline and by morning it be back down. Stay like that for a day or two then flair up again. Constintantly since June I have had to have chap stick on my lips everyday. Which I always got chapped lips easily but this is crazy an I don't understand what's going on. Does anyone have any idea?  Oh an some tips it seems like my whole upper lol is swollen.

Ok will do. I don't pick at it or anything I leave it be. Only thing I do is put lip balm or Vaseline in it. Just so were on the same page. I will see if I can set something up for this weekend.

Thank you,
And if you have any other thoughts please let me know.

Usual a herpes sore will appear, scab over and heal in about 2 weeks. If it keeps reacurring it dosent seem herpes related. Maybe its a pimple and you keep picking at it reinfecting it.

Why would it keep reoccurring tho? It doesn't form to be a pimple now. Just that one time. Now it just gets red an raised a little then goes away.

I will say that if puss came out its mostly likely a pimples as herpes tends to have a clear liquid center.

Life 360- thank you for the response. Wouldn't they have to break it open to swab it? It has never actually popped and formed a scab. Other then the first appearance when I popped it myself, but to me it seemed just like a black head, or standard pimple minus it never actually going away. I am living down at school so it will be challenging to get a swab done within 48 hours of it appearing. And how would I know it's 48 hours when it never fully goes away?

Hi, if your concerned its herpes then get tested. A swab of the sore is best but should be done within 48 hours after appearing. From what you describe, it dosent seem herpes related as is lasting to long. Herpes sores usually appear, scab over and heal in about 2 weeks.
