Herpes 2 on my buttock- transmission rates?

HSV2 on the buttock. What are the transmission rate  "sacral herpes"? Can I pass HSV2 to a partner even if my herpes showed up on my buttock and not on my genitalia?! Do I have to use a condom, since it showed up on my buttock? are the statistics of transmission % for HSV2 on the buttock or legs the same as genital herpes?

Back story:Jan 2016 I had a small patch of what I thought was shingles on my right buttock near the beltline. Size of a quarter but subsequently created a numbness down the left leg a week after. Post herpes nueralgia. Took antivirals for a week. No prodrome. No other symptoms. Still numbness along the L5 nerve root. Makes sense but it's on the opposite side of he body than the original herpes/shingles blisters.

AUG 2016 always get a full STD check with my gyno. Everything has always been clear. Except this year.
AUG 2016 iGG test showed 1.57 for HSV2 and 0 for HSV1
Early OCT 2016 repeat iGG test 1.26 for HSV2 and 0 for HSV1
Wasn't satisfied and NEEDED to know definitive so early NOV 2016 got Western Blot. Came back positive for HSV2 and negative for HSV1.

My main questions are all about IF I had only an outbreak on my buttock- is the viral shedding only happen where the herpes outbreak has been? I feel like I am putting a partner at less risk bc it was on my butt vs my vagina. I haven't had any other symptoms or outbreaks since and coming up on a year.

I am considering starting antivirals just to protect future partners and will use condoms but just wondering if I have to use condoms bc of where my outbreak was?! Dreading having to tell any future partners... but maybe more comical bc it was on my butt!

Help! Are condoms going to prevent?! I hate condoms.

Shedding happens anywhere in the region but moat likely will be contracted on the genitals due to that being the point of most friction. Just because someone has outbreaks on the rear doesn't mean that's were they contracted the virus. It's up to you about the past partners but you need to be honest with future partners.
It's honestly not that bad. There are so many people with hsv. Your not even close to being alone.

Thank you. I will most likely start daily antivirals so I can at least have a plan in place once I start being sexually active.  So condoms and antivirals for women I know it's a less chance to pass along. I will of course disclose this to any future partners. But oh so dreading that!!

Viral shedding can happen anywhere in the boxer shorts area. So protection is a must as transmission rate will be the same. You can have ano outbreak anywhere in the boxer shorts area as well.

So I could asymptomatically shed anywhere in the "boxer short area" and any time... and still pass along?  I will admit I didn't use condoms everytime I had sex with a partner but I asked if they have been tested for STDs and were they clean.  Ah! This is so confusing. Do people more commonly shed from the actual genitals and that's why condoms are effective? But I guess if I feel any symptoms I could avoid having sex or skin to skin contact in the boxer short area.... but problem is I keep thinking I am having symptoms bc this is NEW news and I am PARANOID.

I am having the dilemma of having to ask/tell my past partners of this diagnosis... is it my responsibility to notify? and having to have that convo moving forward with any new partners. This sucks. But I'm trying to believe this is really not that bad
