Herpes Simplex Oesophagitis

My 41yr old sister has asked me for help. Am health professional but nothing to do with viral infections!! She presented with a 3/7 Hx of fever and severe odynophagia. She is married, previously fit and well. No previous oral or genital herpes or STD/infections. Had endoscopy today and told charactersitic appearance of HSV oesophagitis. Biopsies/cultures taken but not yet available. Husband recently in China and Hong Kong on business trip. Had oral sex on his return 2-3/7 prior to onset of symptoms. Is it likely that this is a primary outbreak of HSV and is it probable/possible that it was sexually transmitted?
