Herpes Symptoms or Anxiety?

I had unprotected sex exactly three weeks ago. Since this past Wednesday (2 1/2 weeks after), I have been having lower back pain that sometimes is concentrated on the right side/hip area. Just today, I felt a light "tingling" sensation in the back of my lower right thigh (just above my knee). It is concentrated to one small area.

My questions:
- Does this sound like an initial outbreak?
- Is the tingling sensation associated with an outbreak just in the place where the herpes eventually appear? Or can you feel it elsewhere as well?

My anxiety has been at an all time high these past few weeks, but I do know the lower back pain is real (was imaging symptoms previously).

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

I am having the same symptoms for almost a week. It has been 3 weeks since my exposure. Can you please update your situation? Did you get a blood test for herpes?

Thank you !

Not on their own, no not suggestive of herpes.

I have a follow up on this issue and I was wondering if you could assist. What are the typical prodrome symptoms for initial and recurrent herpes outbreaks? luaulady referenced having lower back pain, is this a common symptom?

I am also confused as I am having lower back pain, leg pain, etc. and wanted to know if these are typical symptoms

Yes the average is 4 days for people that experience a primary outbreak. Also a breakout will follow prodrome symptoms in a matter of hours, a day or so tops.

Thanks Fleetwood20. A lot of the things I'm reading online suggest that an initial outbreak would happen between 2 days and 2 weeks of the exposure. Is that common? I was trying to think that I'm okay given it is 3 three weeks out at this point. Also, how long do the prodome symptoms usually last before you have an outbreak?

The timing is well out to be an initial herpes outbreak. The symptoms on their own are not sounding herpes related at all.

I'm sure the symptoms are real, but due to normal and natural causes maybe a little exacerbated by stress.
