Herpes antibodies

Four weeks ago I had a rash that was like little black bumps that formed a cluster , Before the bumps appeared there was pain like inflamation in the area that the bumps turned up.There was also pain after i pee.  I went to the doctor and he said it could be herpes but was not sure, so he prosribed oxistatand referred me to a urologist. With in a day or two the black bumps fell off and turned into sores. About this time i went to get a blood test to confirm if it was herpes. All test came back negetive for both HSV1 and HSV2 IGG and IGm. The sores have since healed and left scars. Also went to a urologist after the sores healed, he said he could not tell me what the rash was since it all that was left was scars.  but did not resemble herpes. Well about three days after the bumps healed, I had tenderness in my groin and neck lymphnode area. Also there are times when i feel  that inflamation pain in my groin but no outbrake (rash). Ive only been with one other woman, other than my wife and that was four years ago. Could antibodies not developed in four years and cause a false negative result?   Do theses symtoms sound like herpes?

your symptoms do not sound like herpes. you've seen multiple providers who also feel that you don't have herpes genitally.

really no reason for more testing.  if you get a low positive at this point it'll just lead to additional expensive testing for you when it's not likely you have genital herpes at all. As I said previously, no reason to think herpes as a cause and your continued negative testing reflects this.

I have two more questions
1)At what time frame would you recommend a retest, I am currently in the ninth month since the intital rash. Negative igg at intial rash and negitve also at sixth month mark.

2.)Do these symtoms resmble HSV- Black to dark purple rash did turn into open sores(but dont know if ointment caused top layer of rash to fall off to resemble sores), inflamation in urethra, itchyness , pain in scrotum area. I also had slight discomfort in lymnodes under arms and neck area after rash healed. PInching pains almost daily since inital rash healed. Random skin crawling sensation all over body.

I have had the following test ran- HSV igg, gonerrea, syphillis and HIVat four month mark. All Hepatitis tests at three month mark and sonogram in area where pain in scrotum exist all test have been negative.

Would you recommend the Western blot or another IGG test.
These symtoms have really baffled me and it seems that the General Practioners were not up to par on testing as they did not mention a culture test at all. It just drives me crazy that i haven't received a diagnosis yet and its been almost eight months. Would anxiety be able to produce these symtoms even  after all this time has passed? Thanks again for your input.

no abreva will not affect igg blood testing.

it barely got fda approval since it really doesn't significantly increase the time of healing of cold sores. it had no effect on genital herpes at all.

No reason to pursue because you think I don't have it? I just want to be sure as to not spread it to my wife and son. Just seems like the symtoms out number the test results in this situation. I really do want to thank you for your input. Also since the intial genital rash I have had almost nonstop discomfort in the urethra and pinching pains in groin. MY GP thinks that this is just a yeast infection that needs to run its course and have given me ointment that seem to help. But I just find my self thinking I could have it based on my symtoms, is there any thing else I could do to find out if I have it? Also would using Abreava affect future test should I get another one done in the future?

really no reason to continue to pursing herpes as a cause of your symptoms in either location.

Follow- up question.

I re testested at the six month mark and both IGG 1&2 came back negative low percentages (.18 and .22 ). I've seen two Urologist, both said herpes is unlikely. Seen three different GP's all confirmed that I dont have herpes. And this week I had a strange feeling in my lower right lip chin area. Like it was numb and swollen. Lip looks normal, no redness, blisters or tingling feeling.  Is it possible with all the test and doctor visits that I could still have this virus. I thought that the second test confirmed that i didn't have have it, but its just covinient that I got a rash in my genital are 9 months ago with no reacurrence and now having weird symtoms in my lip. What course of action should I do now to find out if I have it??

if this is a newly acquired herpes infection for you, it won't be reflected on your blood test results at that time. your wife getting tested is the best next course of action.  odds are she's never been tested to know her status and you need to cover all the bases.  If your wife tests negative on the igg blood test then you know herpes isn't a part of your relationship.

no you won't need to have an ob to test + on the blood tests. you start developing antibodies from the moment you are infected whether you notice symptoms or not.

Thanks for you response.
I received type specific blood test HSVI and HSVII when the rash first came about, doctor recommended it because he could not diagnose it visually. Every thing came back negative. I have never been STD tested before this. My wife went to her doctor  after I received my results and was told since I tested negative it would be unessecary  for her to get tested. She was tested for STDs when she was pregnant three years ago and all came back negative.   When I read about herpes blood test, It says antibodies are created after intial exposure and some places say you need a brake out to create enough antibodies to test positive. So would  enough anti bodies have been created during the last four years to give a positve result.  When would be an ideal time to get retested?

odds are neither you nor your wife have ever been tested for herpes before. at this point the both of you getting type specific herpes igg blood tests is the best course of action.

did you cover your std bases with proper testing after you had had sex with a different partner 4 years ago?

Herpes formes in clusters but does not leave scars... So it doesn't sound like herpes. But untreated syphilis does leave nasty scars and is very ugly when it forms
