Herpes from kissing.

Hello folks. I recentely had experience of symptoms and i would like to ask a few questions. I kissed a girl i didnt know and some days after i experienced burning sensation and itchy feeling near the lining of my lips at the right side of my mouth. After a day or two the skin began to dry out and it made a crust. I never had any visible blisters or sagnificant pain . I also got ill with high fever but i dont kmow if thats just random. Now it is 3 weeks after the "outbreak" and i only have a red spot on my skin like it is iritated. Does this sound like herpes to you? Could herpes sumptoms last for 3-4 weeks? And without a blister , just dry skin?
Thanks in advance for the replies.

But what other stds could be passed along with kissing i dont know. But it seems that this kind of practice is relatevely safe when it comes to std. I dont know how i got herpes if this is really the case.

If you'd prefer to know, then by all means test. There is nothing that you need to do differently with your life as a result of a positive outcome.

Having HSV does not generally increase the risk of being infected with other STDs. I'm sure you practice safe sex and mutually test before unprotected sex which is the key to minimizing risk of infection.

"You can test for HSV1 (and HSV2) with a type specific test for IgG antibodies. I don't recommend this though."

What do you mean by this Fleetwood20? is igg not good enough to rule out hsv?http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Herpes/Herpes-from-kissing/show/2568875#

I would like to know if i am positive to hsv1 or hsv2 so that if i am going to have outbreaks in the feature i would know and not be freaked out by it. I thought qbout hepres because  when my skin iritation appeared i googled some herpes images and it kinda looked similar only without the blisters. So i combined it with my fever and i made an assumptiion. I also know that when having oral herp you have to be extra careful because it may increase the possibility of catching other stds

Without a fairly distinct outbreak, a primary infection with HSV1 looks extremely unlikely.

It may have been a bacterial or fungal issue.

You can test for HSV1 (and HSV2) with a type specific test for IgG antibodies. I don't recommend this though. Why would you need the information?

Oh i see. Whel it was defenately not that painfull and discomforting. There wasnt a blister or something or anything spread so maby it wasnt herpes after all. Maybe it was just dry skin due to shaven my face or something? I just conected with the incident of kissing. Is there any test for herpes that i could donto be sure? And is it expensive?

This can be the case with recurrent outbreaks in some circumstances, however it would be most unlikely to be a primary infection. The sores upon primary infection are usually pretty noticeable, painful and sometimes widespread.

Thanks for your comment. The debate that i have in my mind is that whether or not could be herpes due to the fact that ithere wasnt any blister. Could herpes apear only by dry skin iritated skin and no blister or any kind of fluid?

Very hard to say what it was. As you suggest a herpes lesion is possible. More likely something else though.

It may also be that you already have oral HSV1 from your youth and have no living memory of an outbreak.

Either way, there is very little to worry about here. If something reappears, seek out a doctor immediately for a swab if you like.
