Lmao I meant classification
I'm so sorry. Your doctor is wrong.
From the CDC STD Treatment Guidelines, which, if your doctor is testing for, diagnosing and treating STDs, she needs to be following:
"The most commonly used test, HerpeSelect HSV-2 Elisa might be falsely positive at low index values (1.1–3.5) (334-336)." It's not even 1/4 of the way down the page.
So what do you do now, besides get a new doctor for your sexual health care?
You can get a Western Blot test, but since your doctor is not on board with any other suggestions, you will likely have to self-pay for this, and it's expensive. You can do this with Terri Warren - https://westoverheights.com/getting-a-herpes-western-blot/ That explains the process, and the cost. (Prepare yourself for hundreds of dollars.) If you aren't in the US, this will be harder to get, and impossible in some countries.
You can accept this as a negative. Even with the positive supplemental test, which means nothing, because we have seen people here with the positive supplemental come back negative on the WB, you can say it's negative, and be pretty certain it's correct. You wouldn't be out of line to come to this conclusion.
You can accept this as a positive. You can get the acyclovir, which is pretty cheap if you have insurance (and even if you don't), and take it or not. If your number drops significantly, or hasn't risen significantly, it's probably a false positive. There are a few different websites you can do this through if you want.
One is https://www.stdcheck.com/herpes-2-test.php?utm_expid=.2560EHt0QiGIP9mdpAPuMA.0&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.stdcheck.com%2F There is a coupon for $15 off right now, making it $50. You only need the hsv2 test.
None of these are wrong choices, or right ones. You have to decide what is best for you - mentally, financially, for your relationship, etc., with this lousy situation.
You can get another IgG test, and see what your numbers say.
I had a positive supplemental test this summer that wound up being negative by Western Blot. Your doctor is wrong.
