How long should I wait for a conclusive hsv2 igg test?

I had protected sex with my then gf and two days later developed a rash in my perineum area with a few bumps on my inner thigh. I tested negative for hsv2 at 7 weeks. How reliable is this result and how long should I wait to retest, if necessary? Should I bother getting tested for hsv1?

About 70% will test positive by 6 weeks, but to know for sure, you'll need to wait until 16 weeks.

If you get any more symptoms, have a doctor do a culture or PCR swab (make sure it's type specific).

Lots of things cause rashes, so this may not be herpes.
