I received unprotected oral sex from a stranger 6 weeks ago. 2 days after I was sick w flu like symptoms and a swollen gland on the right side of my groin. The swollen gland went down in 3 or 4 days.
After about a week I began having problems peeing. My stream was weak and I had to go all the time. It didn't hurt while I peed but my eurethra hurt in between pees. This has gotten a lot better but is not completely healed. Also I still feel really sick.
I've been tested for std's everything came back negative.
I have had hsv1 probably since childhood. I don't remember ever having a cold sore.
If I have hsv1 already I couldn't get it genitally, right??
And what are the chances this woman had hav2 shedding from her mouth?? Am I the most unlucky person ever?

The best way I look at it is, thank God is not HIV and this is not the end of the world. To be selective with sexual partners are always a healthy thing to do. The poor choices we make at times bought us here and we have to be brave enough to face ( I keep telling myself that).

I have not been living a mentally healthy life these past months. I have shared my situation w a very select group of trusted friends but my behavior must appear completely bizarre to the people around me. I am obviously going through something because I am not acting like myself. Yet I can't give any context to my bizarre behavior bc I don't want anyone to know I have herpes. I simultaneously want to tell everyone but don't dare tell anyone. I'd love support but want to keep this secret.

I'm going to ask my doctor to send me the exact numbers. He's pretty sure it's a true positive and I agree with him. I've been so sure i had this thing but the doctors all doubted it. It is so unlucky that I got this via oral sex but I guess I'm just unlucky this time.

What was your igg test results? Hsv2 from oral is rare from what I read ...especially from 1x encounter unless she has active hsv2 sore in her mouth. But if u can share ur test results ... Maybe grace can help !
I would contact a local STD clinic or a doctors office to ask about support groups in your area. If you're diagnosed with a + result then you can start taking anti-virals. I'd also get a dose of Lysine from your local grocery store. Lysine helps keep the virus from forming. Try to stay away from stress and watch what you eat. If you don't have a clean diet already then you should clean it up now to prevent outbreaks. False positives can happen so you should take the Western Blot or be re-tested via IgG in another 4 weeks. My suggestion though is to call the clinics about support. If you don't want to talk to your regular doctor then I'm sure you can call another doctor and ask about support groups. Just do a search on ZocDoc for local doctors in your area. I hope this helps.
It was a type specific igg at 12 weeks. I'll test again w western blot but I'm sure this is a true positive.

What kind of test did you have that returned at + result? Remember, the IgM test can produce false positives really easy.

Doctors are telling me anxiety is playing a huge role. While I don't doubt this, something physical is definitely going on. If it's not herpes what else could it be??

Hi, if you already have hsv1 oral, the chances youll contract it genital are close to zero if possible at all.
