Hsv2 acquisition after years of Hsv1

I have read that hsv2 can be mild in someone who already has hsv1. How likely would a new hsv2 infection go unnoticed? Or just produce very mild itching and a flesh colored bump with no fluid or redness, scabbing, etc? I engaged in rubbing of genitals unclothed, but he did wear a condom each time. I am paranoid after a recent breakup and not trusting the person, and have been having weird sharp pains in the side of my inner knee, and the nerves on top of my foot on the same side feel.. irritated. I’ve also been dehydrated with mild appetite loss.. I’m wondering if hsv2 could have been acquired from our skin rubbing , where the condom didn’t cover? And if 20+ years of presumed hsv1 only, would cause genital hsv2 infection to be mild/ cause weird nerve sensations and random pains/throbs?

Yes, it can keep it mild - how mild really varies from person to person.

Your leg pains are not herpes.

You can't keep reacting like this, where something happens and then you panic for 12 weeks. Have you ever worked with a therapist about it? You really need to.

You are right. I do have really bad anxiety, and have a habit of always thinking the worst. I tell myself that I will stop putting myself into situations like this, because the anxiety waiting for results is beyond stressful, and torturous. I am trying to get the courage to get tested for everything one good time, and going forward, not do ANYTHING with another man, until he provides documentation, because once the trust and relationship are done, I question… every little thing. And like I said, it’s torturous waiting to see if everything is ok… it’s not worth it anymore. Thank you once again auntiejessi for taking the time to address my concerns and offer up advice. Therapy for my anxiety and worry is not a bad idea.
You're welcome. Happy to help, and I really, really hope you get therapy soon. It does help.
