I've only had three partners in the last six years. I was last tested for HSV1 and HSV2 on 11/24/10, this was 4 months after i last slept with my ex. I had already started a new relationship at this time. My results where 8.49 for HSV1, which I've had since I was a kid. .52 for HSV2. There was a risk from my previous partner cause he was 15+ years older than me and had never been tested for anything, which is why I waited the 3+ month window to get tested because I wanted to make sure of my status before I moved any further with my new partner. I was with this new partner up until May 2013. We last slept together in the middle of May. This past thursday 7/25/13 I had a blood test because five days prior I had unprotected sex with a stranger (embarrassing to admit. it was very stupid of me). I got my results today and they of course are positive for HSV1, although I didn't ask for the number (I am going to pick up a copy of my results tomorrow) and I also came up positive for HSV2 at 1.01igg. Although my research tells me this puts me at an equivocal result, but the nurse I talked to said I do in fact have HSV2. I asked if it was possible to have gotten it from the stranger I had sex with five days prior. She said no, this was previous to that. My ex never had any symptoms, and we had a lot of unprotected sex at the beginning of our relationship, If he had it, I probably would have had symptoms back then. I never suspected any cheating but like with anything it is a possibility and it does happen. At this point I have had no clear symptoms, possibly some itching but its not unusual for me to have razor burn or irritation from shaving. I dont have any blisters. I've had oral herpes for years I know what the tingling and itching feels like and i dont feel any of that down there. I'm really confused. I'm pretty positive this didnt come from my last relationship. I want to say i got it from the stranger but can antibodies show up in 5 days? Is there a possibility that this is a false positive?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
