If you have oral herpes and your partner also has oral herpes, are you still at risk of getting genital herpes?

My question is, if you have oral herpes, and your partner also has oral herpes, and if you performed oral sex on each there is there still a chance of giving genital herpes to each other?. We are both virgins and have never engaged in sexual activities with anyone else. Not even kissing.

having hsv1 orally gives you significant protection against contracting hsv1 genitally.  Always avoid performing oral if you have an active cold  sore present or feel like one might be starting to err on the side of caution.
