Interpretation of HSV I/II IgM & IgG results

Hi all… hoping you can help provide some light on my situation.

I have been romantically involved with one person for 1+ year and we both get STI screens annually. Last years was negative across the board. As was my romantic partner. This year’s came back positive for HSV II.

I recently had an encounter with a new partner who I screened and asked if they screen frequently to which they said yes and that they are negative since last screening “breast cancer survivor”

A week after encounter with new partner I came down with flu like symptoms… achy joint… maybe fever, minor sore throat and didn’t think anything of it.

Had encounter with old romantic partner the following week and then went to get tested the subsequent week “1 week after flu like symptoms” as did my new partner.

New partner tested on a Monday and got negative results back. I tested that Friday and was positive for HSV II. Both new and old romantic partner indicate having negative tst results prior to our encounter.

I tested + for HSV II but was not provide a range for IgG other than notation it was abnormal. My IgM value indicated a value of .41 which is below the range of .98.

Please provide suggestions… trying not to lose my ****.

If you could get an index value, that would be really helpful. There are a good number of false positives, so without knowing what your actual result is besides "positive", it's impossible to know if you have a true or false positive.

Where did you get it done? Can you find out if you can get an index value? Some of the online sites will give you an index value on request.

Also, your partners may think they have tested, but if they did it with their doctors, chances are good that they weren't actually tested for herpes. It's most often not included even if you ask for "everything".

I’m hoping to speak with my provider. I had my STI screening ”pee in the cup” done at urgent care and “blood work” performed by Tricore “next door”. Tricore sent me the results via email at my request. I was looking for range value for HSV II but nothing was included aside from abnormal positive.

When I have asked for STI screenings in the past I have always asked for the full panel HSV included. I understand/recognize this may not be the case with partners.

Thank you for the response. I will look to obtain range results for positive HSV II value.
If you need to, and you're in the US, you can use a site like STDCheck.com, LetsGetChecked.com, HealthLabs.com or ultalabtests.com. You'll have to pay yourself, but they will give you an index value.

Additional details… it has been three weeks since encounter with new partner “breast cancer survivor” and two weeks since last encounter with old romantic partner.

I have no history of STI infections of any sort. I have no visible symptoms… lesions, discharge, aches, no chronic throat issues, don’t smoke or use substances.

Encounters with both partners was unprotected sex

1st tst was less than 12 weeks. And will follow up with a second go round of tests in another 8 weeks.

Thoughts… suggestions?
